Senior Software Designer/Implementer (Oracle/J2EE) Job Summary:

At Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana we work to improve oral health through benefit plans, advocacy and community support. Delta Dental Plan of Michigan, Inc. seeks a full-time Senior Software Designer/Implementer (Oracle/J2EE) based in Okemos, MI. The primary duty of this role is to lead/contribute to the analysis and design specifications, and perform programming and testing of system components (WebLogic, Java, .Net, etc.). This position provides technical direction and support to users, peers and other domain/feature team members ensuring standards are followed. Responsibilities:

Participate in the analysis, design, and development of technical specifications, programming, and testing of application components. Contribute to implementation modeling including definition of distribution of system across physical nodes, definition of run-time architecture, concurrency requirements, inter-process communication mechanisms, and process lifecycles. Participate in software design and programming reviews and promote adherence to design and enterprise programming standards. Mentor team members on story card refinement and code craft. Advocate development best practices and code quality within their team. Facilitate adherence to deployment activities, automated testing practices, and development of secure coding practices. Assist the Lead SDI with issue resolution, scalability metrics, integration issues, and response to critical production issues. Maintain knowledge of business requirements. Assist with interviewing, training, developing, and evaluating staff to meet corporate goals and objectives. Technologies and Tools:

Technologies and tools utilized include JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, XML, JSON, Rest and SOAP services; Java and J2EE development; Docker, Kubernetes; Public and Private cloud deployment; DevOps pipelines; Application code scanning tools; and iterative software development practices. Minimum Requirements:

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, plus five (5) years of progressive experience in an applications design and programming position. Alternatively, a Master’s degree with three (3) years of experience is acceptable. Experience must include: Building single page applications using web technologies. Java and J2EE development. Docker, Kubernetes, and ELK stack. Public and Private cloud deployment and CI/CD practices. Application code scanning tools. Utilizing Java collections framework and J2EE persistence strategies. Working with iterative software development practices. Position is hybrid with an in-office requirement. Worker must live within a commutable distance of Okemos, MI. Salary: $125,000/year.
