Position Summary:
The role of the Web and Print Graphic Designer is to design the layout and behavior of websites or web pages and other online and printed materials. This includes making communications easier for the desired audience through the visual aspects of a site or print materials, such as layout, color scheme, typography, graphics, and more. It is crucial that this position supports the mission and values of It Is Written by exemplifying the values and beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in all interactions.
Authority & Accountability:
Authority as delegated by and directly responsible to the Director of Creative Services in accordance with It Is Written's policies and objectives.
Essential Position Functions:
- Assist in the planning of projects and review work together with the Director.
- Design deliverables, based on concept, with minimal supervision.
- Conceptualize layouts of websites, web pages, and other online and printed materials.
- Maintain and update web pages for desktop and mobile formats.
- Submit creative deliverables within the agreed-upon deadline to produce the necessary communications pieces in both digital and print environments for a wide range of products.
- Facilitate and prepare design files in requested formats, as requested.
- Collaborate within the department to conceptualize and execute creative solutions that can be translated across various media platforms.
- Ability to adapt to changes in priorities, concepts, or deadlines.
- Participate in pre- and post-production quality checks with constructive criticism.
- Attend meetings as assigned.
- Fulfill other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Position Specifications:
Qualifications, Scope, and Complexity of Duties:
- Education:
High school diploma, or equivalent, is required.
Bachelor's degree in graphic arts, design, communications, or related field is preferred.
- Experience:
One to two (1-2) years of experience in graphic design either with an agency or organization is required.
Two to four (2-4) years of experience in web design is preferred.

- Possess creativity and innovative design skills.
- Demonstrate aesthetics and attention to detail with the capacity to visually represent ideas.
- Ability to sketch and brainstorm with Creative Department colleagues.
- Possess a knowledge and familiarity with content management systems, website accessibility standards, HTML, CSS, Java Script, and how they interact.
- Proficient in using Adobe Creative Suite (Creative Cloud), Microsoft Office, and/or Google equivalent applications (Google Docs, Sheets, etc.).
- Ability to follow guidelines for file management.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and software.
- Is a self-starter who can exercise direction and independent judgment, manage multiple projects, assume responsibility, and deliver on tight deadlines.
- Exhibit good interpersonal communication skills.
- Possess superb time-management and multitasking skills.
- Able to exhibit Christ-like behavior in daily tasks, collaborative projects, and under stress.

Specific Requirements:
- 38 regular hours per week.
- May require variable hours and weekend work.
