City of Bonham Library Director in BONHAM, Texas
The Library Director plans, organizes, and promotes the services and programs of the Library; manages the day-to-day operations of the Library including supervision and coaching of personnel and volunteers; manages library facilities; gathers data and statistics for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for maintaining State Accreditation and communication with the city officials and community members; maintains balance, integrity, and maintenance of all library materials; tracks, maintains, and defends budgets for the city and library board; plans, organizes, promotes, and implements special programs for library stakeholders and investors; researches, organizes, writes, and implements grants for various library programs and services; researches and collects policy data to advise Library Board on policy updates, maintains and enforces current policies, procedures, and best practices; recruits, hires, and coaches personnel. Under the direction of the Library Board of Directors, the Library Director manages and coordinates all library affairs, along with consulting the City Manager.
The Bonham Public Library Board of Directors will review all submissions for consideration. As part of the partnership through the City of Bonham, a competitive salary of $61,969.73 is offered by the City. This includes benefits extended to City employees, i.e. medical, dental, employer-paid vision and life insurance, and other benefits that the employee can elect upon their appointment. While the Library Director will oversee all the affairs associated with the Library, the City of Bonham reserves the right to post regarding vacancies and offers to the staff of the library. In addition, the library director will work closely with city leadership to ensure the smooth operation of services for the community. The City Manager may at any time appoint a point of contact to work with regarding library affairs.

JOB SUMMARY
This is an appointed position by the Library Board of Directors involving highly responsible administrative work including the direction of a broad range of public library functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans, implements, and evaluates library services, programs, and events.
- Contributes to the development of policies and implements current policies and best practices concerning library operations, budgets, and programs.
- Addresses all complaints and concerns with the community, patrons, and personnel following policy.
- Supervises, coaches, and delegates responsibilities to the library staff through one-on-one coaching and monthly staff meetings.
- Recruits and recommends employment status of library personnel and volunteers.
- Organizes, trains, assigns, and evaluates personnel and volunteers.
- Prepares the annual Library budget, and presents and defends budget requests before the Library Board of Directors.
- Prepares the annual City budget, and presents and defends budget requests before the City Manager and Finance Director.
- Directs, controls, and tracks the expenditures of fund allocations with the constraints of the approved budgets.
- Accepts, tracks, and acknowledges donations of money and library materials.
- Develops, maintains, and reports on partnerships for fundraising, sponsorships, and general grant writing.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and statistical reports to the Library Board of Directors, City Officials, and State Library for Accreditation.
- Prepares agendas, reports, and packets, and attends monthly meetings for the Library Board of Directors and Committees formed within the Library Board of Directors.
- Attends and provides Library updates in City Department meetings and City Council meetings.
- Supervises and provides hands-on maintenance of the library facilities, equipment, furnishings, and collections.
- Maintains the total library collection balance, comprehensiveness, and integrity of items.
- Attends and is involved in weekly and monthly community and civic groups to promote library services and programs.
- Oversees and approves scheduled use of the library by outside groups in accordance with policy regulations.
- Maintains membership in several professional organizations.
- Performs other related responsibilities as necessary such as circulation, cleaning, book storage, and other job duties.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to perform duties in an office environment.
Ability to work in an environment subject to continuous interruptions and background noise.
