Hudson County Community College is proud of its culture of care and invites applications from those wishing to join a community dedicated to promoting student success in all forms.Position SummaryThe Development Manager is responsible for fundraising, donor relations, and special events to support HCCC’s growth. The Development Manager collaborates with the HCCC community in the planning and execution of the College’s 50th Anniversary and other events, providing expertise and strategies for year-long programming involving alumni, donors, community leaders, VIP guests, and others.This position will work closely with the Vice President for Advancement and Communications and other staff members to develop and implement strategies to generate sustainable funding streams for the organization.Key Responsibilities:Plan, execute, and evaluate donor cultivation events, fundraisers, and campus-wide events, including invitation development, timelines and calendars, developing marketing materials, and working with volunteers and staff to ensure successful outcomes.Manage scholarship programs, grants, and other initiatives funded by the HCCC Foundation and the College.Develop and implement effective gift solicitation campaigns via personal visits, telephone calls, direct mail, e-mail, and the College's alumni and development website.Manage post-event and post-campaign analysis and follow-up internally and externally.Work with the Vice President to develop and implement donor engagement, stewardship, retention, and growth strategies.Manage and document the acknowledgment process to ensure all engagements are conducted in a manner consistent with stewardship best practices and IRS guidelines.Create personalized and targeted donor correspondence, donor briefing materials, stewardship letters, gift renewals, and letters of inquiry promptly.Conduct donor research and create comprehensive profiles and bios using DonorSearch and iWave software to identify prospects (individuals, corporations/businesses, and foundations) and create strategies to align prospects’ interests to the priorities of the Foundation.Craft compelling annual appeals for mail and digital platforms and synthesize appeal results.Develop compelling sponsorship materials and pitch decks for effective solicitations.Routinely reconcile financial reports by accurately tracking net revenue and expenses against fundraising goals while ensuring that all fundraising activities are cost-effective.Recruit, motivate, train, and manage volunteers and colleagues to achieve fundraising goals and assist the Vice President for Advancement and Communications with HCCC Foundation Board of Director support, training, and development.Build and nurture relationships with donors and stakeholders through various methods, including giving and legacy society programming.Manage and ensure the timely fulfillment of all pledges made by donors.A bachelor’s degree.At least three years of experience in nonprofit fundraising is required.Experience effectively managing and organizing complex projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail and accuracy; ability to present ideas and solutions for meeting goals and overcoming challenges.A proven track record of securing philanthropic support from individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations.Excellent communication skills, including strong writing skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.Must demonstrate a high level of initiative and ability to work independently with a thoughtful approach to problem-solving.Experience planning and executing fundraising events such as golf outings, galas, and annually occurring fixed events.Capital campaign experience is a plus.Experience with Salesforce, fundraising software, and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including the ability to create PowerPoint presentations and slide decks and e-marketing tools.An authentic passion for the mission and values of Hudson County Community College.Donor portfolio management is preferred.Working Conditions:This is a full-time position, with occasional evening and weekend work required.The Development Manager will work in an office environment.A willingness and ability to travel for meetings and events.A valid driver’s license is required.Demonstrated ability to interact with a culturally diverse population and to effectively and respectfully function and communicate within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.
Hudson County Community College (HCCC) serves more than 20,000 credit and non-credit students annually.
