Job Description
The Graphic Designer will develop visual solutions to support NEVHC’s internal, external, social media, and general communication efforts. This role blends creativity with marketing awareness, ensuring brand consistency while engaging diverse audiences. The designer must have an imaginative flair, a keen eye for detail, and expertise in industry-standard design software. Working closely with the Communications team, the Graphic Designer will contribute to strategic initiatives that enhance the organization’s visibility and impact.
1. Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field.
2. Experience: Minimum of two years as graphic designer
3. Knowledge about design elements, such as color and composition is vital.
4. Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
5. Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, PhotoShop, In-Design software and other industry-standard design software
6. Strong understanding of typography, layout, color theory, and branding.
7. Experience designing for diverse, multicultural, and multilingual audiences.
8. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
9. Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, or community-based organizations is a plus.
10. Familiarity with AI-driven design tools and motion graphics is preferred.
11. Excellent interpersonal skills and strong leadership skills.
12. Able to work independently, is organized and is a self-starter.
13. Excellent written communication skills
14. Passion for health care, health care policy, health communications, advocating for underserved communities.
15. Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner displaying sensitivity towards individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.
16. Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and others.
17. Math skills sufficient to prepare routine spreadsheets, develop budgets, calculate/balance invoices/expense reports, and similar functions
18. Effective work organization skills including the ability to set priorities, work effectively in spite of interruptions and, and meet deadline, with minimal supervision.
19. Self-starter, reliable and dependable.
20. Ability to work effectively as a team player.
21. Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment.
22. Ability to solve problems, think creatively and make recommendations.
23. Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient/client information.
24. Current California driver’s license, appropriate insurance coverage and a driving record acceptable to the NEVHC’s insurance carrier (if required to drive on the job).
