Job Description
The San Francisco Boys Chorus is seeking Camp Counselors for a one week choral music camp, happening in Angwin, CA, June 22-29, 2025. Candidates should have experience and enjoy working with children in a camp environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Program Planning:
• Participate in the planning, development and implementation of program activities for campers within the camp’s mission: Afternoon & evening games and activities, field trips, special events.
2. Program Responsibilities:
• Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their living unit, within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
• Assure campers are properly supervised at all times.
Comply with pertinent COVID-19 prevention guidelines, including masking, social-distancing, and handwashing. Ensure that Chorus campers comply with these guidelines.
• Be aware of and implement safety guidelines, as well as security rules and procedures. Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff. Provide the daily care of each camper within your supervision, including recognition of personal health needs. Ensure that campers receive their medications as directed by the Camp Nurse.
• Participate as a member of the camp staff team to lead, assist, and supervise evening programs, special events, and other all-camp activities and camp functions.
• Responsible for leading and assisting with the teaching of activities
• Actively participate in all program areas assigned such as waterfront, all camp activities, choreography, and arts and crafts as directed.
Be a role model to campers in your attitude and behavior regarding general camp procedures and practices including camp spirit, sanitation, promptness, and sportsmanship.
• Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.
3. Other Job Duties:
• Contribute to verbal and written evaluations and communication as requested.
Help prepare for camp as requested
Compensation is $1125 for up to 81 hours’ work scheduled by the Camp Director. Wages will be paid in arrears by direct deposit in the week following the successful completion of Camp. Taxes will be withheld. Accommodations and meals will be provided for the performance of your duties as Camp Counselor from June 21 to June 29, 2025.
There will be a mandatory CPR and Staff Training at 4pm on Thursday, June 19 at the San Francisco Boys Chorus Office.
You are responsible for your own transportation to arrive and depart from Camp. (You must have any required automobile insurance coverage).
All SFBC staff are required to complete a Livescan fingerprint background check and online training.
