We have been digging dirt since 1956! Team Elmer's, an employee-owned heavy highway business, is comprised of multiple divisions: asphalt, excavation, concrete ready-mix supply, trucking, aggregate production, and crane/rigging. Our Traverse City, Michigan-based company proudly employs over 500 skilled professionals and operates out of 15 Northern Michigan locations.
Our professionals have worked on a variety of small and large projects over the region - including the construction of prominent public and private schools, churches, state and federal roads and bridges, shopping centers, medical centers, hotels, and public institutions throughout the state of Michigan.
Satisfied clients include the U.S. Government, the State of Michigan, County Road Commissions in the area, Michigan's top construction companies, and tens of thousands of private companies and individuals.
We are looking for a social media specialist in our communications department who likes to serve, treats people with respect, and wants to grow in their position over the next 5-10 years. The position is in person in our Traverse City, Michigan, office.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
- Implement social media strategy to increase brand awareness and growth
- Set specific objectives and report on account performance on a monthly basis, as well as monitor customer comments to maintain brand PR
- Coordinate social media calendar across multiple departments
- Maintain a consistent look and feel throughout all web and social properties in coordination with the Communications Director
- Collaborate to ensure incorporation of valuable KW, strategies to support SEO, growing social and paid traffic, engage website visitors, and support company objectives
- Keep current with emerging technologies
- Track and report on all digital metrics
- Work cooperatively with key team members and outside partners
- Identity trends, work with Lead Media Creator to incorporate and create content
- Ability to set up/manage company logo gear apparel site (Shopify or similar)
- Ability to spec merchandise and coordinate creation, delivery, inventory, and disbursement
- Ability to coordinate and complete communications sent on behalf of the company via slik text or other (anniversary stipend, company party rsvp, year-end contractor recognition, etc.)
- Ability to assist with event planning (20-year inductee dinner, company summer party, retirement parties, Career Days, employee training events, etc.)
- Compile and publish weekly safety updates, quarterly newsletters, and updates on initiatives to internal and external team members.
- Generate content, provide trends, and manage engagement - helping enhance and implement the firm's social media communications strategy for multiple accounts and handles
- Generate, edit, publish, and share engaging content daily (e.g. original text, photos, videos, and news)
- Work one-on-one with multiple internal stakeholders/thought leaders to gather information to educate the public (external) or employee-owners (internal)
- Stay up to date on new tech and trends and ways we can best leverage them (e.g., A.I., systems, procedures, processes, software, hardware, etc.)
- Create and maintain a social media calendar using a SaaS platform such as Sprout Social
- Create campaigns around high-impact content and events
- Ensure consistency of the firm's message platform and integration into all social media platforms and handles
- Design and implement social media strategy in concert with other teams (e.g., video, website, events) as aligned with business goals
- Monitor social media channels, campaigns, and analytics. Conduct competitor analysis
- Set specific objectives and report on Return on Investment
- Communicate with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner, and monitor social engagement
- Train/Educate internal stakeholders/thought leaders on best practices for social media
- Incorporate search engine optimization strategies in content creation for added visibility and awareness
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- BS/BA, Social Media, Marketing, Communications, or Journalism Degree or related experience
- Experience Managing Social Media sites (required)
- Google/Social Media Certifications (preferred)
- Proficient in social media management software, such as HootSuite or Sprout Social, a plus
- Self-starter possessing respectful curiosity, design flair, and a growth mindset
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Exceptional copywriting skills
- Strong understanding of behaviors of search engines, Keyword research, advertising technologies, and social media
- Passion for learning the latest paid digital marketing trends and strategies
- Analytical thinker with the ability to interpret results to drive change
- Knowledgeable of web analytic platforms (Google, Google Tag Manager, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Youtube, Google My Business, etc. )
- Knowledge of SEO and keyword research tools like SEMRush or other
- Knowledgeable in Shopify, Canva, Slik Text, Sprout Social, Google Suite (Forms, Docs, Sheets, etc)
- Ability to deliver under tight deadlines, get alignment from key stakeholders, and prioritization to the highest business impact
- Ability to interact comfortably and effectively with employees of our company
- Self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful
- Excellent follow-through and attention to detail
- Flexible - able to adjust to changing priorities positively and able to prioritize/complete multiple assignments
