POSITION TITLE: Film/Media Arts Teacher, Tybee Island Maritime Academy
REPORTS TO: Principal
WORK DAYS: 190
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide in-person instruction for students that enables them to learn and achieve to the maximum of their abilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Educational Level: Bachelor's Degree
- Certification/License Required: Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate
- Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Communication; Instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners; student management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- In depth knowledge of the craft of screenwriting, including proper formatting.
- Knowledge of the basic principles of pre-production and production management.
- Full knowledge of the basic principles of cinematography including, but not limited to, composition, exposure, color temperature as well as the craft and techniques involved with lighting for video.
- Knowledge of the basic principles of editing fiction and non-fiction video projects.
- Knowledge of the basic principles of sound-recording and mixing.
- Knowledge of the following computer applications - iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Studio.
- Implement film production curriculum.
- Assist with Performing Arts performances and/or Middle School Film shoots in whatever capacity needed.
- Continuing professional development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Flexibility.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with regard to children, their parents, and colleagues.
- Participates in personal professional development in the area of teaching as well as film production and filmmaking.
