THE POSITION:
Under the general direction of the City Librarian, develops, organizes, and oversees a variety of library and community service programs and activities; performs related duties, as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and plan library programming.
- Participate in the selection, hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of personnel and the scheduling of part-time personnel.
- Assist the public in making effective use of available services.
- Classify and catalogue books, documents, serials, and other materials.
- Ensure the development of social media, and the City webpage.
- Ensure the preparation of promotional materials, including flyers, program brochures, newsletters, and press releases.
- Maintain pamphlets, audiovisuals, or other special collections.
- Ensure the completion of administrative tasks, including the maintenance of records, files, and other data.
- Ensure that assigned programs or events are operating in compliance with established City policies, and health and safety rules and regulations.
- Monitor assigned facilities and activities of users, and secure facilities, as required.
- Participate in assessing program and event needs for budget development.
- Recruit, interview, select, and train volunteers.
- Assist in the evaluation of programs and events.
- Resolve customer satisfaction issues.
- Make recommendations on refund requests.
- Stay updated on changing trends and technology in public library operations and implement policy and procedure improvements as appropriate.
- Assist in writing and administering grants for various programs and projects.
- Safely operate City vehicles & equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
Bachelor’s degree in Library Science or a related field AND two years of recent public library experience, including one year of supervisory experience.
License and Certification Requirements:
Must possess a valid California class “C” driver’s license upon hire and maintain throughout the length of employment with the City of Victorville.
