Job Description
This position leads the team responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving automation control systems integral to our production processes. This position is responsible to ensure the best quality products are produced and improve equipment uptime, throughput, efficiency and quality. This is a working leader position.
Responsibilities:
- Provide controls design direction, manage assigned projects and duties
- Assist in developing PM strategies and identify areas of improvement within the assigned projects
- Understand customer supplied specifications and deliver controls systems which meet those specifications
- Participation in pre-design reviews for new projects
- Direct leaders, contractors and/or employees to implement control system projects
- Assist in writing / negotiating engineering changes to project requirements or scope
- Promote team atmosphere within department maintaining a positive attitude
- Represent Paslin at customer meetings from process development to buy off readiness
- Report job status percentages to customer and Paslin management
- Assist project teams with management of customers upon request
- Provide training and guidance to maintenance personnel related to controls systems
- Assist in troubleshooting and repair of electrical problems as required
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures
- Perform all other duties, as assigned
- Travel to customer sites for project evaluations and team direction
Requirements:
- 7+ year’s work-related experience
- Knowledge of hardware design and PLC programming
- Knowledge of industrial communication networks
- Strong knowledge of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands on experience
- Strong programming, mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Electrical Code
- Experienced leadership to be able to lead a large project controls staff
- Microsoft Office
- Skilled with structured problem-solving methodology including root cause analysis
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Work Environment: This position operates in both an office environment and plant environment.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and be present on the plant floor or customer facility.
Expected Hours of Work: This position regularly requires 8 – 12 hour workdays and frequent weekend work.
Travel: This position requires up to 40% travel to customer sites, including weekend and overnight stays.
Direct Reports: This position has up to 10 direct reports.
