Base pay range
$17.00/hr - $19.00/hr

We're looking for a creative and energetic Youth Services Assistant Librarian to join the staff at Radnor Memorial Library. This role involves helping library patrons discover resources, creating and presenting programs for infants through high school students, and collaborating with other staff to expand youth services outreach. Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Head of Youth Services, duties include:
- Discovery
- Assist patrons with collection use, focusing on juvenile, teen, and parenting sections, and provide reference and readers advisory services.
- Assist with collection maintenance and weeding.
- Provide training on digital resources.
- Create displays to promote events, services, and collections.
- Programming
- Develop and execute age-appropriate programs for children from birth through high school and their caregivers.
- Coordinate programs with contracted performers as needed.
- Represent the library at community events and visit schools, daycares, and youth-centered spaces as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master of Library Science preferred or equivalent experience and education.
- Some library experience preferred.
- Ability to perform essential functions with minimal supervision.
- Attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Courtesy and sensitivity in serving the public.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff.
- Must provide PA Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprint Check prior to employment.
- Availability to work at least two evenings weekly and two weekend shifts monthly.
Physical Demands
Employees must frequently sit, use hands, reach, talk, stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
