Summary

The Grant Writer Assistant will assist in the responsibility for the purposes of coordinating and overseeing grant applications and application process including identification of potential new funding sources, development of funding resources for existing and proposed programs and/or services, writing grant, assist in developing budgets, collaborating on grant applications with various departments and community organizations. Additionally, the grant writer assistant will assist with writing, preparing presentations and providing support to THA.

Essential Job Functions

Assist in collaborating with a variety of parties for the purpose of securing funding to maintain and enhance services and programs.Assist in coordinating grant processes for the purpose of ensuring compliance with state, federal, and other funder guidelines.Assist in developing forms, processes, procedures, and policies for the purpose of implementing a consistent grant application methodology.Assist and develop grant applications and related documents for the purpose of submitting highly effective grant applications to the appropriate funding agency.Assist in evaluating the degree of match between listed grant priority areas and the needs of the Tampa Housing Authority for the purpose of matching needs with funding sources.Assist in monitoring proposals and funding application requirements for the purpose of utilizing time and resources to maximize successful awarding of grant funds.Assist in monitoring the financial management of grants for the purpose of complying with all programs and funding guidelines of awarding organizations in tandem with THA Finance Department.Participates in and leads, if appropriate, meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying, sharing, and/or gathering information required performing functions associated with grant applications.Helps assist in presenting concepts, status, and information to a variety of groups for the purpose of gaining the required administrative and board approvals, providing progress reports to administration and funding sources and/or advising other staff of potential funding sources.Assist and research grant opportunities for the purpose of developing additional funding resources for both current and proposed services, programs and administrative operations as well as serving as a clearinghouse for potential grant funding opportunities.Assist in performing other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuing the efficient and effective functioning of the THA grant applications and initiatives.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required to assist in performing review and interpret highly technical information.Assist in writing technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions.Analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.Possess the ability to gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job related equipment.Research and analyze a variety of data, working with detailed information/data, organizing and communicating information and concepts.Problem solving with data to identify issues and create action plans.Problem solving with data for independent interpretation of guidelines.Possess specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include Public Housing Programs, Section 8 Programs, Community Organizations, Public and Private Agency funding sources.Utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, Communications or closely related. Requires (4) years of experience in grant writing, proposal development, journalism or closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Requires Level II Background Clearance. Other: Valid Florida Driver’s License Insurable under the agency’s insurance policy
