You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.

We're looking for a CMF Designer passionate about creating captivating and tasteful aesthetics in a revolutionary industry, through the thoughtful selection of colors, materials and finishes. As an integral member of the Design Team you will explore innovative solutions to complex problems, play a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity of our products, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure that our robots are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the out.

Responsibilities• Research and identify trends, cultural influences and brand direction to inform the selection of appropriate colors for our robots, considering factors such as target market preferences, product positioning and Design Team principles and philosophies.• Explore and evaluate a wide range of materials, considering factors such as functionality, aesthetics, durability, sustainability and manufacturing feasibility, to determine the most suitable materials for our products.• Specify surfaces finishes, textures and treatments that enhance the visual and tactile qualities of our products, ensuring consistency with the overall design vision and brand aesthetic, without sacrificing functionality of parts.• Generate CMF design concepts and proposals that align with product requirements, project objectives and user needs, through the use of beautiful visuals, mood boards and physical samples.• Collaborate closely with cross functional teams including industrial designers, product managers, engineers and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals and technical requirements.• Evaluate prototypes and samples to assess color accuracy, material performance, and finish quality, providing feedback and making refinements as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.• Create detailed CMF specifications and documentation for procurement, including color standards, material specifications, and finish requirements, to ensure consistency and quality across manufacturing processes.

Requirements• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or related field, or equivalent practical experience.• Proven experience in CMF design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create compelling color, material, and finish concepts for consumer products or industrial goods.• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, as well as rendering software such as Keyshot, VRED or equivalent.• A strong understanding of manufacturing processes, as well as experience working closely with suppliers to ensure alignment between design vision and manufacturing capabilities, fostering collaborative relationships to achieve high-quality and manufacturable CMF solutions.• Excellent understanding of color theory, material properties, and surface finishes, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively showcase and articulate CMF design concepts to cross-functional teams.• A creative and proactive individual with a passion for staying updated on material innovations, design trends and industry best practices.
