We are looking for an experienced and ambitious interior designer/architect to join our Philadelphia, NYC or Princeton location, with a passion for innovative design, disciplined project management, and delivering high-quality projects that exceed clients’ expectations. The Senior Interior Designer position entails leading the interior design of a range of project types and scales, including supervising junior interior designers and collaborating with project architects and consultants across potentially multiple teams. You should possess a creative, progressive design sensibility, a collaborative problem-solving approach, strong project management experience, and a strong ability to communicate your ideas in a clear and thoughtful manner.Primary Responsibilities:Assumes responsibility for developing design direction for multiple projects, from programming and conceptual design through constructionDemonstrates passion about design excellence and the ability of interior architecture to affect meaningful changeInterfaces with clients at every level of a projectSupports project teams – aligns in-house staffing resources with project needs, budget, and deadlinesGives direction and mentors junior staffManages all aspects of projects, including budget, fees, schedule, scope of work, and coordination with other disciplines in the production of construction documents and specificationsReceives and coordinates technical, budgetary, managerial, and design guidance on critical project issues and requirements.Prepares project workplans and manages workflow and administrative efforts throughout design and documentation phases, including programming, planning, concept, design, construction documents and construction administrationWorks with Marketing to prepare proposals and develop project teamsRequirements and Skills:Passion and enthusiasm for design excellenceStrong experience in project and workflow management of aspects of interior design practice, including programming, planning, concept, design, detailing, furniture planning and selection, and finishesKnowledge of FF & E specifications and biddingStrong commitment to design and technical qualityExperience with client interface, networking, and relationship buildingStrong and respectful writing and verbal communications skills; within the office, to clients, consultants and contractorsWorkplace, hospitality and institutional project experienceAbility to be collaborative and pro-activeFluency with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe suite is strongly preferredHighly organized with an eye for detail and creative problem solvingAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environmentAbility to effectively meet deadlinesKnowledge of material application and detailingBachelor’s degree in Interior Design or ArchitectureNCIDQ CertificationTravel as requiredLegal working status in the United StatesFully vaccinated against COVID-19PreferredLEED AccreditationWELL CertificationKSS offers competitive compensation packages; full-time employment company paid medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance; 401(k)/Roth with company match.KSS Architects is committed to diversity in the workplace.
