Summary of Position:

This role oversees the day-to-day marketing operations and develops the marketing, communication, digital, and experience strategies for Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU). This position is vital in ensuring consistent planning, development, and execution of the university's marketing, advertising, communication, public relations, experiences, website, and digital initiatives. The VP, working in conjunction with the EVP/Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer (CISO), plays a significant role in driving IWU's growth and has responsibilities ranging from creative direction to communication, marketing, website, and brand strategies. Their goal is to ensure IWU's marketing, communication, and digital efforts successfully assist the institution in outperforming its competition.

Duties and Responsibilities

Marketing and Innovation

Set marketing goals and objectivesPlan, implement, and manage marketing strategyDrive department innovation within desired KPIsCreate and maintain a successful brand that attracts students and engages alumContribute to the overall growth of the institution o Create and present an annual marketing planDesign, plan, and execute effective marketing, communication, and advertising campaigns

Data Analysis and Fiscal Management

Use data and reports to make evidence-based decisions that demonstrate ROIEffectively and efficiently manage marketing budgets and resources to drive results and ROIAnalyze current marketing strategy and suggest improvementsDetermine and track KPIs for the marketing department

Team Leadership and Partnering

Grow and develop the in-house marketing team to meet the institution's needsDevelop and manage strategic partnerships that drive marketing and organizational resultsBuild a network of reliable external agencies and marketing professionalsSupervise the marketing department, including three direct reports (Executive Director of Brand & Creative, Executive Director of Digital & Performance Marketing Experience, and Director of Communication)

Industry Leadership and Growth

Conduct market research and stay abreast of competitor positioningStay up to date with the latest technologyStay up to date with the latest marketing best practices

Education

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related fieldMasters in Marketing/Communications or MBA is preferredAdditional marketing certifications are a plusExperience

Proven experience as a VP or a senior marketing leadership role with a minimum of 10 years of experience leading marketing in a complex organization or companyA minimum of 10 years of experience in leading a customer-centric organizationWorking in or having knowledge of Higher Education is a plusExcellent leadership skills with the ability to cultivate and nurture talentExcellent analytical with the ability to interpret big data and organizational data into a strategyAn understanding of CRM and digital marketing tools like Google Analytics, Google Adwords, HubSpot, WebTrends, Salesforce, etc.Regularly produce and present high-quality dashboards, reports, and creative and effective marketing materialsExperience with running and evaluating A/B testing and using results to refine advertising and marketing directionExcellent organizational and time management skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent presentation skillsRequired Skills

Exceptional knowledge of marketing strategy and can drive tactical results in complex organizationsCreative and entrepreneurial spiritDemonstrable experience in developing efficient strategies and business plans for all marketing aspects (branding, lead generation, product development/management, promotion, etc.)Solid understanding of market research and data analysis methods and the ability to interpret and deploy into a strategy or planAbility to apply marketing techniques over digital (e.g., social media, SEO, digital paid media) and non-digital (e.g., press, experiential, out-of-home, etc.) channelsUnderstanding of different business disciplines (IT, finance, academics, etc.)Proficient in MS Office and business softwareA leader with both creative and analytical capabilitiesOutstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal abilitiesAbility to listen to the trends of the market and direct the market research efforts of the organizationLiaising with other departments to guide a unified approach to create a student-centric approach to Higher Education, which meets marketing demandsDefining marketing strategies to support IWU's overall strategy and objectives
