Library Assistant I (Adult Services)

Duties:
Provides assistance at the adult reference desk, answering questions in person, online and by telephone. Provides reader's advisory to library customers. Assists library customers with use of on-line catalogs, databases and computers. Processes library card applications, issues new/replacement library cards to customers; inputs and updates customer account information. Shelve books and processes hold requests for library customers. Bills customers for lost, damaged and missing items; collects and processes library fees and/or refunds. Assists in promoting Adult Services collections through designing and constructing displays, signage and bookmarks. May present and/or assist with adult programming and outreach services. May assist with collection development, weeding projects and other collection maintenance projects. Assists in maintaining public service areas and library equipment/facilities.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED. PREFFERED: An Associate's Degree or some college desirable. Some experience working in a library or similar setting desirable. A desire to work with public and excellent customer service skills a plus. Bilingual (English/Spanish) and trained in American Red Cross First Aid desirable.

five weeks of vacation per year.From 26 years of service and up -
six weeks of vacation per year.
