Position OverviewSalary Range: $52,000 - $60,000 annually

City Year Chicago seeks a collaborative and innovative Marketing and Communications (MarComm) Manager in conveying the power of City Year Chicago's service and corps members to key stakeholders. Reporting to the Managing Director of External Affairs and Communications, the MarComm Manager will provide support to the site by aiding in writing and design of print and electronic collateral, such as one-pagers, reports, newsletters, and invitations. The position will also support various events by drafting press releases and media advisories.

The MarComm Manager will be the primary driver of City Year Chicago's social media strategy leveraging the site's social media properties to drive traffic to online platforms and raise City Year Chicago's innovative role in leveraging national service to improve student success. Aiding corps members and staff in telling of their personal stories of impacting students and professional development will prove key to the success of this position.

Job Description

Responsibilities

• Help design and lead the implementation of site social media/marketing strategy, leveraging site properties(Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X), blog, website and pertinent hashtags.• Spend time in the field, as needed, to gain working knowledge of corps member impact stories.• Assist in corps member/student testimonial preparation.• Record and edit video content to be utilized via multiple platforms to relay our impact.• Aid in creation, design, writing and updates of site collateral including one-pagers, reports,presentation decks and other communication materials (printed and electronic).• Write and distribute all electronic communications, including electronic newsletters andinvitations.• Manage City Year Chicago website (cityyear.org/Chicago) with updates with current andrelevant content.• Support event production, including promotion (advisory and press release drafts), script writingand corps prep, general production support, and lead wrap up communications.• Support evaluation of efficacy by designing analytic reports based on metrics/goals.• Support all City Year Headquarters' Marketing and Communication initiatives at the site level, asneeded.• Graphic design skills strongly desired• Serve as a resource to our recruitment team and recruitment efforts, including alerting them of events andopportunities to heighten City Year Chicago's brand awareness

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree preferred; degree in marketing, communications, or related field stronglypreferred.

• Three to five years professional experience in communications/marketing/public relations field;nonprofit preferred.

• Strong communications, writing and editing skills to ensure connectivity to mission andappropriate style and usage.

• Knowledge of basic graphic design, brand management, adhering to style manual preferred.

• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and take initiative in managingseveral projects with the utmost attention to detail.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office platforms required and strong familiarity with Adobe CreativeSuite and CMS platforms preferred. Canva proficiency preferred.
