Job Summary

University Relations and Marketing is seeking an Integrated Marketing and Communications Director for Student Success. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

Reporting to the Vice President of University Relations & Marketing, the Integrated Marketing and Communications Director for Student Success works with the Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Senior Associate Vice Provost & Dean of Students, Vice Provost for Educational Ventures and other leaders across 11 colleges and divisions to develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communications plans that create awareness, advance reputation and understanding of the university's educational mission and organizational impact in achieving student success goals and targets outlined in its strategic plan.

As part of University Relations and Marketing (URM) and with access to expertise, capabilities and channels within URM, this position acts as a key leader, consultant and advisor to administrators, faculty, students and staff on marketing and communications best practices, engagement strategies, consumer awareness, earned media, thought leadership, sponsorships, and digital and social media. With excellent facilitative leadership and project management skills, the position directs enterprise-wide marketing and communications campaigns, and regularly monitors integrated marketing communication plans and tactics to ensure maximum effectiveness.

The Director of Integrated Marketing & Communications for Student Success advances the mission of the university by designing, implementing, and collaborating on integrated marketing and communications campaigns that establish and promote positive, productive relationships between the University's alumni, professional, industry, legislative, and student constituencies. They ensure relationships for the University and outreach strategies that advance our student success story are designed strategically, developed, nurtured, maintained, and in alignment with current and future academic, research and economic development goals for the University.

Key Responsibilities

90% Integrated Marketing & Communications Strategy and PlanningDesigns, implements, and oversees comprehensive marketing and communications plans and tactics to meet specific research and innovation organizational growth, reputation and brand goals across the university Creates opportunities, implements and engages in external relationships, programs, collaborations and events that support the university's strategic initiatives and student success reputation goals, including but not limited to industry partnerships, community partnerships and/or alumni relationships.Segments and addresses specific opportunities and success outcomes with alumni, donors, peer organizations, professional societies and conferences, legislative representatives and government agencies, industry partners, traditional media, social media, prospective faculty and students. Responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with these contacts. Develops communications initiatives and messaging to facilitate, increase, and advance the mission with stakeholders statewide, nationally and internationally. Includes developing differentiators and value propositions related to various components of the plan.Represents the division, college, and profession at events, workshops, seminars, and other external as needed.Provides counsel to and project management leadership on behalf of executive leadership on complex and sensitive internal and external initiatives, including policy, budget, or stakeholder relationship implications.May track, frame, and assist in the engagement of the division, college, or department with state and federal governmental agencies in collaboration and cooperation with the University government relations team.Drafts internal and external communications, including copy for marketing and communications collateral and web content.Provides strategic direction and collaborate extensively with URM teams to support tactical implementation of marketing communications strategies.Oversees the successful execution of marketing communications plans within target budget and timelines ensuring tactical execution remains tied to plan objectives and strategies.Works with analytics, closely monitor plan results and regularly report back to college and administrative leaders.10% Other duties as assigned

What You Will Need

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, business administration or a related field.Five years of related experience in communications, marketing communications or marketing with demonstrated experience in driving the implementation of strategic communications plans and tactics.Work experience should include participation in communications plan development and expertise in tactics that range from developing collateral material to digital content to highly targeted, audience-specific initiatives.Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills a must. Must be highly organized and show attention to detail. Ability to inspire confidence, earn trust and collaborate in a way that builds relationships.Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion concepts and issues as they apply to marketing and communications strategies and tactics.This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

What We Would Like You to Have

Master's degree, certificate or demonstrated commitment to continuing education in marketing, communications, business or business administration.Seven years of related experience in communications, marketing communications or marketing with demonstrated experience in driving the implementation of strategic communications plans and tactics.Experience working with research, education and community programs in an academic environment or large nonprofit preferred.Second language proficiency preferred
