ABOUT THE POSITION

Applicants will be required to provide a portfolio of artwork displaying competencies in the listed programs and graphic arts upon initial application.

The Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District (Parks District) is looking for a Park Graphic Arts Illustrator. The Park Graphic Arts Illustrator will collaborate closely with Park staff to create artwork and graphics for a variety of locations and events within the Park's District, including regional parks, nature centers, historic sites, and more. This role involves designing and producing various materials such as publications, event flyers, banners, and facility signage for the entire Parks district. The incumbent will also represent the Parks district at promotional events, where they will set up market booths.

Ideal candidates should have prior experience in Parks, Animal Services, or similar environment. Proficiency in graphic design and photo editing software such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Flash, and Microsoft Office is essential. Additionally, website design, print media, and development skills, particularly with WordPress Content Management System, are desired. Moreover, candidates with experience in social media account management, social media campaign development, photography, and videography will be valued for their versatile skill set.

The work schedule is Monday through Friday but this role will require evening, weekend and holiday work for special events and promotional activities based on department needs.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES• Design and develop publications, event flyers, banners, facility signage, and site handouts for the Parks District's 8 regional parks, 4 nature centers, multiple historic and educational sites, regional sports park, boxing club, Crestmore Manor event center, trails network, open space reserves, and more than 15 special events annually.• Use computer graphical programs to proof and prepare materials for print or publication utilizing vector artwork, fonts, embedded or linked image files, and custom pantone colors as applicable; Maintain database of artwork, photos, designs, and images for Parks District use.• Meet and coordinate with Parks District staff to develop artwork and graphics for Parks District programs, events, and facilities.• Promote the Parks District at events by way of the Parks District marketing booth; Interact with the public to provide information and gather survey data.• Design user interface for the Park District websites and social media platforms; Assist with social media account management and developing campaigns.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

OPTION I:Experience:

Three years of experience in graphic artwork involving design and production of computer assisted and/or computer-generated graphics, computer generated text, fonts, lettering and images.

OR

OPTION II:Education:

Successful completion of a two-year course in Graphic Arts, Commercial Arts or the equivalent from an accredited college or technical school. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.)

AND

Experience:

One year of experience in graphic art work involving design and production of computer assisted and/or computer generated graphics, computer generated text, fonts, lettering and images.

ALL OPTIONS

Knowledge of:

Current graphical computer programs; Methods, materials and equipment used in computer Aided drawing, lettering and image design; Proper use of color and composition; Techniques of interpreting statistical data by charts and graphs; Offset reproduction processes and implications for layout and design work.

Ability To:

Create a variety of computerized line and full-tone drawings, tracings charts and diagrams; Computerize lettering utilizing a wide variety of available fonts, designs, etc.; Re-design, alter, change or enhance forms based upon changes in Federal, State and County rules and regulations; Follow written and oral instructions; Work cooperatively with others.
