The full salary range is: $19,523-$27,613. The expected

hiring range is $19,523-$20,304

Work Schedule: 20 hours weekly, varied schedules during library operating hours: Monday - Friday 9am-9pm, Sat. 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, Sun 2pm - 6pm every other weekend required

Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:

To support these ongoing activities and associated goals, we are currently seeking a

Library Support Assistant

to serve at various branch locations. The Library Support Assistant provides customer service to a diverse population related to circulation of library materials. This includes the responsibility of opening and closing the facility on specified days, nights and weekends and also includes ensuring that the library environment is conducive for excellent customer service (i.e. reporting equipment problems, leaks, outages, etc. to Manager or supervisor). The Library Support Assistant is to carry out library and city policies and procedures, i.e. circulation and registration, computer use, cash handling, and behavior guidelines. Also included is shelving library materials, straightening shelves and providing readers advisory. This position assists customers in finding answers to questions and in using library resources. Assists staff as needed with library programs and services. The Library reserves the right to transfer employees to other library locations as required by service needs.

Employees of the City of Greensboro are expected to perform all duties listed in their position descriptions, as well as other related duties as assigned, according to the City's four core values of honesty, integrity, stewardship, and respect. The physical duties of the job include standing, walking, reaching, stooping, climbing, lifting, or pushing approximately 40 lbs. This employee must be able to work the hours required including every other weekend. This employee must also maintain a reliable means of contact (i.e. home or cellular telephone).
