Job Summary

The Music Therapist provides music therapy sessions to assigned students, utilizing clinical and evidence-based assessments and music interventions to accomplish individualized goals. The Music therapist completes consultations, assessments, treatment plans and session plans with developmental and academic standards in place.

Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities

:

Essential Duty 1:

Travels daily to assigned schools to deliver music therapy services to specific students as outlined in their IEPs

Essential Duty 2:

Maintains and provides daily documentation through data within domain areas in the IEP.

Essential Duty 3:

Promotes a positive classroom environment through well delivered therapeutic interventions

Position Specific Responsibility 1:

Provides music therapy to students as outlined in eligible students' Individual Education Programs.

Position Specific Responsibility 2:

Participates in IEP meetings and suggests if student is eligible for music therapy based on data and collaboration with IEP team members

Position Specific Responsibility 3:

Maintains up to date record keeping documenting progress on IEP goals and updates IEP goals and progress reports as required.

Position Specific Responsibility 4:

Collaborates with school teams regarding individual needs of students that the music therapist serves in addition with consulting with school teams for those students who do not have music therapy as a service.

Position Specific Responsibility 5:

Maintains a schedule to ensure all students are receiving services.

Position Specific Responsibility 6:

Provides professional learning to other educators and classroom support throughout the district.

Performs other duties or tasks as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the responsibilities in this job classification.

Education and Experience Requirements

Education

(training/degree) :

Bachelor's degree in music therapy or related field required. Master's degree or additional degrees in music therapy, special education or related field preferred.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations Required:• Valid certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists. MTBC (Music Therapist-Board Certified)• Tn Teaching Certification

Experience:

1 or more years of school system music therapy experience preferred.

Skills Required:• Written and oral communication.• Classroom management skills.• Excellent organizational skills.• Knowledge of and ability to use various computer programs such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, calendar and email, and current music programs.

Meal Deduction -

Most Bransford office and district level employee have a meal deduction. They are scheduled 8.5 hours per day and get an hour lunch. Itinerants and retirees get a 30 minute lunch period and therefore do not have a meal deduction. All school based employees will not have a meal deduction. Auto Meal Deduction
