Responsibilities:Provides music therapy sessions throughout assigned schools of the district including evaluations, treatment plans, session plans, and documentation through data collection daily driven by the students' Individual Educational PlanTravels daily to assigned schools to deliver music therapy services to selected self-contained special needs classroomsMaintains and provides daily documentation through data within domain areas in the IEPIntegrates appropriate technology into music therapy sessionsPromotes a positive classroom environment through well delivered therapeutic interventionsConducts assessments and develops treatment plans written with developmental and academic standards in placeWorks closely with the Music Therapy Department and the educating of college internsCommunicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadershipFollows all county, state and federal policies and proceduresFollows professional ethics in all work-related activitiesPrepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absentWorks with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student's educational programFacilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communicationsAvoids behaviors which detract from staff moralePerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Qualifications:EducationBachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from a regionally accredited universityCertification/LicensureMust hold valid certification from the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA)Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid license in the state of practiceAssumes responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development
