Job Description

The Opportunity:

Mattel, Inc. is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Product Designer to join the Disney Princess product design team. The group is focused on creating new products including fashion dolls and playsets; by understanding the consumer, trends and technology that are then translated into successful product. This involves creating and communicating toy concepts in 2D and/or 3D models to design and marketing management. The ideal candidate will possess proven product design experience showing ability to work on challenging and fun girls’ products as well as ideating new concepts.

What Your Impact Will Be:

Actively generate new toy ideas to enhance the brand

Execute on both Product Designs and Graphic Designs

Design and develops for fashion dolls, playsets and / or advertised lines or segments

Builds consensus between members throughout the design process

Partner with Development Design, Engineering, Packaging, Marketing and Cost Engineering

Product integrity and marketing objectives

Daily communication with Asia partners

Successfully present and communicate their concepts to the design and marketing management and creative departments

Manage the early phases of design and product development with cross functional teams

Qualifications:Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

1-3 years of fashion doll, playset design experience (licensed brand experience is a plus)

Fashion experience helpful

Skilled in sketching and illustration

Ability to prove ideas out through sketch, breadboard or 3d model

Must be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and 2D computer programs

Strong written and verbal communications skills

Adobe Creative Suite proficiency

Knowledge of 3D CAD (Alias, Rhino 3D is a plus)

Knowledge of material and manufacturing process for soft goods and plastics

Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment

Ability to project manage, and multi-tasking

Ideal candidate will exhibit interest and knowledge of the current trends. Understanding of features and play patterns in the toy industry is a plus.

Portfolio demonstrating strong design excellence and superior problem solving

Personal Attributes Required: Creative, Self Motivated, Passionate about 'Play', Efficient, Proactive, Organized, Professional Maturity and the Ability to Assimilate Constructive Criticism

The annual base salary range for this position is between $52,400.00 - $92,000.00.

**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
