The Communications Manager will serve as the leader on developing and executing an enterprise employee communication plan, with a specific focus on equity and inclusion, recruitment, retention and employee engagement. This position will provide project management, organizational and administrative communication support for Enterprise Employee Resources (EER), the Office of Inclusion (OOI) and the One Minnesota Inclusion and Retention goal leads by managing and maintaining existing communications plans, drafting content, and coordinating with all stateagencies on employee communications strategies to ensure adequate and timely information is provided to state employees on these important topics.
Minimum Qualifications
Seven (7) years communications experience that includes strategic communications planning, implementation, and measurement and administration of an organization's communications program with oversight and expertise in internal and external communications, social media, and digital communications. Experience must demonstrate:
Thorough knowledge of professional communications practices and ability to write succinct, clear content regarding complex issues for talking points, articles, reports and plans; shift priorities quickly; draft accurate, effective communications on short notice; and facilitate meetings with a varied and diverse array of partners.
Experience developing and maintaining relationships with partners at multiple levels of staff, leadership, and external partners.
Strong organization and time management skills as well as leadership experience managing a communications office or team, with output that includes employee communications, public relations, outreach efforts, and marketing strategies to advance agency objectives, inform partners, and protect and enhance the organization’s reputation.
Demonstrated ability to think and act creatively to solve complex problems.
Experience working with diverse communities and developing materials to communicate to diverse audiences.
Experience working in areas of diversity, equity, inclusion and antiracism in professional settings.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a closely related field.
Strong knowledge of or experience working in a political environment.
Experience supporting executive leadership.
Ability to manage complex and politically sensitive communications.
Teamwork, team building, and leadership skills sufficient to build positive, professional working relationships with all levels of an organization and partners.
Media relations experience
