Position Summary

The Marketing and Communications Manager, under the direction of the Chief Development Officer, is responsible for external marketing and communications across YWCA Utah. This includes managing all YWCA print publications, maintaining and strengthening the YWCA's online presence (website and social media), and working with the press to maximize media coverage.

Essential Job functions

Update and maintain website for all of YWCA Utah. This will require close collaboration with program directors across the organization.

Maintain regular posts on all social media channels to elevate our work, ensure survivors and marginalized folks can access our resources, and drive donations.

Work with the CDO to develop a strategy for ongoing blog posts, including inviting Program Directors and Leadership Team to write content.

Design and develop print and digital newsletters for general audience, donors, and policy/advocacy listserv.

Oversee all marketing and communications related to signature events, like LeaderLuncheon and Candy Cane Lane.

Work closely with Development Team on campaigns and fundraising appeals to raise funds and reac h development goals.

Write, edit, and distribute media outreach, including press releases, PSAs, and advisories.

Coordinate responses to all media inquiries and work closely with the YWCA Speakers' Bureau.

Ensure consistent branding and language on all communications and materials.

Work with graphic designers, printers, and other vendors on projects as necessary.

Take an active role in the successful execution of key YWCA events, taking on assignments wherever needed.

The right candidate will be comfortable working independently and on projects with team members. Openness to working a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, is required at times to support events.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years' work experience in marketing and communications

An understanding of, and agreement with, YWCA Utah's mission, values and philosophy regarding the elimination of racism, empowerment of women and commitment to anti-oppression work and social justice.

Understanding and commitment to issues of cultural diversity and anti-racism.

Ability to work scheduled hours on a regular basis, some weekends and evenings required.

Excellent writing, interpersonal communication, and public speaking skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time, evaluate progress, and adjust activities to complete projects within established timeframe.

Demonstrated experience functioning within multidisciplinary settings.

Skilled in establishing effective working relationships.

Ability to collaborate and invite collaboration.

Able to demonstrate skills in effective communication, conflict resolution and problem solving.

Experience working in Adobe InDesign, Canva, and Squarespace a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a non-profit organization.

Physical/Sensory Demands

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable kitchen environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand for long periods of time, lift heavy objects work in a variety of environments, including outdoor settings.
