to join our team.This role is key in planning and implementing marketing strategies, designing captivating materials, and contributing to the success of events, strategic outreach, and other initiatives. Your designs will play a crucial role in engaging our alumni and friends and supporting our mission to advance the University of North Dakota.POSITION SUMMARY

The Graphic Designer creates visual communication and marketing materials to ensure brand and design standards are followed. This individual will be an integral part of the team, planning and implementing marketing strategies and messages in areas of alumni and/or donor events and strategic outreach initiatives that help enhance and support the UND Alumni Association & Foundation. This position requires extensive knowledge of graphics, design and print processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Create and design marketing communication materials across various media (print, digital, and video).Work on multiple design projects and ensure deadlines are met and projects stay within budget and scope.Work with outside vendors as needed to ensure timelines are met and projects are produced within established budget parameters.Utilize various design software platforms within Adobe Creative Suite to create and edit designs.Ensure that brand guidelines and templates are being used consistently across the organization.Proficient understanding and application of the UND brand guidelines.Design or coordinate multimedia presentations to include PowerPoint and video for use in group settings and/or websites.Work closely with all organization departments and college liaisons.Continue learning and staying up to date with design tools, trends, and technologies.Conduct research to understand target audiences and market trends.Preparing and proofing designs for print production.Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Minimum 2-year degree in graphic design required; 4-year preferred.

Experience: 2-4 years’ experience in graphic design experience strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL & COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS

Ability to operate computers, telephones, and other standard office equipment. Ability to focus and complete work in a timely manner. Ability to travel independently via car and air. Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, squat, and lift or move objects up to 10 pounds.

COMPETENCIESExcellent organizational skills and proofreading skillsExceptional communication, analytical, planning, and implementation skillsStrong interpersonal communication skills and project management experienceProficient use of industry-standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite) and knowledgeable use of Microsoft Office Suite programsExtensive knowledge of print techniques, to include print presses, color conversions and uses and paper options.Strong knowledge of principles and techniques of graphic arts design and multi-media productionAbility to work in groups and independently while managing multiple tasks and deadlinesEnergetic, forward-thinking and creative with high ethical standardsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential matters with appropriate discretionAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt easily to changeSelf-motivated and confidentAttention to detailArticulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of the organization
