Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Five-plus years of experience, including three years or more of progressive experience in a communications, marketing, or similar role is required
  • Education beyond high school may count toward experience
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Zoom experience required
Additional Qualifications and Skills
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, including experience writing and editing for the web leveraging SEO best practices
  • Project management experience and a deep understanding of accessibility and general web standards
  • Strong technical skills, including experience with content management and customer relationship management systems
  • Experience with multiple aspects of organic marketing
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple streams of work with competing priorities
  • Desire to learn and grow in a highly dynamic organization
  • Pitches in where needed; "No job is too big or small"
Additional Information

This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus. HBS expects all staff to be onsite 3 days per week and departments provide onsite coverage Monday - Friday. Specific hours and days onsite will be determined by business needs and are subject to change with appropriate advanced notice.

This is a 40 hours/week, overtime-eligible position.

Position Description

Content Marketing

  • Manage the creation, delivery, editing, uploading, and optimization of HBS Online blog content and other content marketing assets
  • Establish and execute a quarterly editorial calendar that features keyword-rich blog content that aligns with HBS Online's product offerings and target audiences
  • Edit the work of internal and external writers to ensure blog posts and other assets showcase HBS Online thought leadership and search engine optimization (SEO) best practices
  • Collaborate with SEO and content marketing vendors to create content and manage campaigns; advise on HBS Online strategy and ensure deliverables are consistent with brand expectations
  • Analyze content marketing initiatives and report on their effectiveness to the broader marketing and product management team and HBS Online senior leadership
  • Identify new marketing opportunities with an emphasis on new media, including videos and other downloadable or multimedia assets

Video and Audio Strategy

  • Oversee and execute HBS Online's YouTube strategy, with an emphasis on SEO
  • Identify and plan new video series and types based on marketing needs, performance metrics, and enrollment goals
  • Manage and execute SEO-focused explainer video series
  • Collaborate with HBS Online's Creative Director and oversee all marketing aspects of The Parlor Room podcast, including its set-up, distribution, promotion, and reporting
  • Research and implement opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence to create new audio content

Social Media and Other Marketing Activities

  • Edit and optimize social media content posted daily
  • Partner with product managers to create marketing collateral that drives program awareness and is supportive of, and consistent with, the brand messaging and strategy
  • Support the execution of HBS Online's annual learner conference, Connext, through faculty outreach and the planning of any learner video or photo shoots
  • Other duties as assigned

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Manager will serve as a content editor and manage a portfolio of marketing activities, including HBS Online's content marketing, video, and audio strategies.
