Radcliffe Creek School in Chestertown, Maryland is looking for a dynamic, creative Marketing and Communications Director for a small independent school that personalizes learning for each child. Our students are learners with average to above-average intelligence who learn better with hands-on, multi-sensory experiences versus a more traditional classroom. The ideal candidate will effectively communicate broadly our mission to foster a supportive and inclusive learning community where each child's unique strengths and challenges are understood and celebrated.This is a full-time (12) month position with reduced summer hours (4 day work week).Marketing and CommunicationsDevelop and execute annual marketing and communications strategy and plans that engage internal and external constituents in the support and promotion of Radcliffe Creek SchoolCoordinate all advertising and public relations activities. This includes the school’s social media accounts, mobile apps, and parent newsletters and mailings.Shape and maintain the strategic and creative direction of the school’s websiteIdentify emerging marketing opportunities, design effective targeting strategies, gather appropriate data, and report on resultsBuild relations with all regional media outlets and seek to generate regular press releases on newsworthy topicsCollaborate with the Advancement and Admissions offices to include advancement and admission messaging in RCS materials, ensuring it is clear, consistent and on brand, enhancing the school’s visibility and reputationSupport the design and development of all collateral material including brochures, postcards, banners, annual reports, newsletters, videos, radio interviews/featuresDevelop and implement a crisis management communications planManage the Marketing and Communications budgetAdmissions and AdvancementCollaborate with the Admissions and Advancement teams to develop strategies to recruit prospective students and engage committed alumni, families, donors, and foundationsSupport the student recruitment and enrollment management efforts of the Admissions Office in Radcliffe’s kindergarten through eighth-grade program. Assist with the communications and marketing of all aspects of the school’s admissions program including in-person and virtual Open Houses, and help cultivate relationships with potential familiesPlan, market, and lead the logistics for the Run for Radcliffe working closely with the admin teamSupport in the planning and promotion of other school wide fundraisers and events (Fall Soiree, Giving Tuesday, Professional’s Breakfast, Friends of Radcliffe Day, etc.)Other ResponsibilitiesWork collaboratively with the Head of School, administrative team, faculty, staff, and Board of Trustees in pursuing the long-term and strategic objectives of Radcliffe Creek SchoolWork collaboratively with the Parent Teacher Committee (PTC) to advance the mission of that organizationProvide general administrative support as necessary (school yearbook, school slideshows, photographing and filming school events, etc.)Utilize the Blackbaud platform as a centralized database for current and former students and make sure Constant Contact database lists are accurate and appropriately segmentedOther duties as assigned

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or marketing, with 3-10 years experience in fundraising, admissions, marketing, and/or communications, preferably in independent schools or non-profit organizationsOutstanding organizational and presentation skillsExceptional written and oral communication skillsPassion for working on behalf of childrenAbility to work well with others, accept constructive feedback, ask for help when needed, good sense of humor, flexible, and able to multitaskComputer skills including Google Workspace, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, and InDesign as well as knowledge of the Blackbaud, Constant Contact, and Wix platforms, not required but preferred.Proven ability to effectively lead, manage, and inspire others in a fast-paced environment with multiple creative projectsCreative and artistic vision and directionExperience in desktop publishing design and management of design productionDemonstrated experience with photography, videography, website content management and design, and social media marketingDemonstrated success as a confident problem solverProven track record as an independent and goal-oriented manager with a dedication to meeting deadlines
