Urban School of San Francisco is seeking an experienced Director of Marketing and Communications. Urban is an independent high school with 420 students located in the historic Haight Ashbury neighborhood and known for its innovative and progressive curriculum; deep commitment to equity and inclusion; nationally recognized service learning program; and the authentic engagement of its students, faculty and staff.
Urban’s Director of Marketing and Communications promotes the mission, programs, and objectives of the school to a wide range of external and internal constituents. Essential elements of this leadership role include: internal and external communications; brand management; oversight of the school’s online and digital presence; shaping and implementing strategies in collaboration with the Admissions and Development offices; development of the school’s publications and collateral materials; media relations; crisis communication and other special projects as needed.
The Director of Marketing and Communications serves as a member of Urban’s senior administrative team and reports directly to the Head of School.
Successful candidates for the Director of Marketing and Communications will likely have the following:
Alignment with Urban’s mission and core values and a desire to work in a high school
Significant marketing experience ideally in, but not limited to, non-profit settings
Exceptionally strong writing, editorial and proofreading skills
Strong technical and digital skills and proficiency with office and design software
Outstanding listening and collaborating skills and interpersonal acuity
Proficiency with current social media platforms
Experience with website development, design, and function
Strong project management skills and the ability to run concurrent projects
Degree(s) in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
WORKING CONDITIONS
Climate controlled office environment; one remote day a week allowable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Equipment Used: Computer/Laptop, phone, copy machine, scanner, mobile phone
Sitting continuously over 5 hours per day occasional lifting, reaching, bending, standing, squatting, kneeling
Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The anticipated salary range the School reasonably expects to pay candidates for the position of Director of Marketing and Communications in San Francisco is $165,000 - $172,500 annually.
