Job Description

The Associate Director of Communications plays a key role in advancing PKS’s mission, program, and strategic priorities. As a core member of the Advancement team, they will help to develop and execute an annual school-wide communications plan, and conceive, produce, curate, and deliver engaging content on a range of platforms and channels to tell the story of the school to internal stakeholders and external audiences.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and manage a comprehensive communications plan and content calendar that integrates academic, admissions, fundraising, parent association, and alumni work streams; track deadlines and keep projects moving forward while remaining nimble to emerging issues and opportunitiesOversee, update and maintain the school’s social media accounts, website, and internal parent platformCreate engaging, timely, and mission-aligned content (written and multimedia) that deepens understanding of our program; promotes community engagement and belonging; supports admissions, enrollment, and fundraising objectives; and expands the school’s external profileOversee, update and maintain the school’s social media accounts, website, and internal parent platformOversee publication of the school’s weekly electronic newsletter and biannual alumni newsletterParticipate in school events as an active member of the Advancement Team; visit classrooms and campus spaces to maintain a pulse on student lifeCollaborate with advancement colleagues as needed on other tactical/administrative aspects of team effortsOther duties as assigned

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a blend of content strategist and content creator, who can meet the communications needs of varied and diverse constituencies using a range of digital tools, platforms, and approaches. They are adept at managing multiple projects and deadlines with attention to detail, have an enthusiastic roll-up-your-sleeves work ethic, and will be able to effectively and eloquently articulate the PKS value proposition.

Bachelor’s degree3+ years of experience in marketing, public relations, fundraising, communications, or related fieldStrong design sense; photography, video production / editing, and infographic skills highly preferredStrong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple projects with attention to detail and follow through, and comfort working to a deadlineExcellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently, collaboratively, or within multi-functional and diverse teamsResourceful, flexible, creative, technologically savvyExperience with Blackbaud, Squarespace, and Meta Business Suite preferredKnowledge of Chinese language and culture an asset, but not required

The salary range for the Associate Director of Communications position is $75,000 - $90,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
