Ameresco has an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Designer that will help develop and implement Biogas Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) projects for Wastewater Treatment Plants and Landfills. This position will report to one of our offices located in Charlotte, NC or Portland, ME.

Responsibilities:

Uses knowledge of tools and drafting to complete assigned tasks including 2D and 3D model development, completing design changes, general arrangement drawing production, redlining, plotting, and drafting using CAD platforms noted below.

Mechanical Piping Designer: Work independently in the field to determine as-built conditions and design new project work in a plant retrofit environment; Develop isometrics using the Isogen module; Develop equipment models and piping models for use in the overall project model; Develop general arrangement drawings and P&ID’s; Be proficient with Plant 3D, Isogen, and Navisworks; Work closely with Engineers and staff in other offices.

CAD Administrator: Setting up new Piping Specifications; Creating plot styles; Creating and Maintaining Isogen setups; Creating and maintaining CAD standards and templates

Will work closely with engineers and senior designers on assigned projects.

Performs thorough quality control (QA/QC) of documentation and print work for standards compliance, discipline engineering to ensure comments/markups have been addressed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree in mechanical design or related technical degree; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of five (5) years of mechanical and piping design experience.

Additional Qualifications:

Exceptional AutoCAD skill set (Autodesk products) is a must.

Ability to work with others on complex projects.

Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.

Working knowledge of software programs including AutoCAD and Plant 3D

Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Office Suite and Bluebeam.

Experience working with other disciplines including electrical and structural.

Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

Ability to travel 15% of the time, or as needed.
