The Street Transportation Department has a vacancy for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician position. This role is integral to the Street Transportation Department's programming, project delivery, traffic services, and maintenance workflows. While much of the work for a GIS Technician can be done independently, the work is almost always part of a larger GIS deliverable project. Successful candidates will have a willingness to learn from senior members, assist and support other GIS Technicians, and perform well as a member of the team. This role is primarily responsible for researching and inputting stormwater infrastructure and performing quality assurance/quality control tasks on other technicians work.

Duties include:

Create and update feature classes.Convert paper and digital data to GIS.Create accurate custom maps for customers.Assist in QA/QC of other technicians work to ensure accuracy.Research and interpret construction plans for information relevant to stormwater infrastructure.IDEAL CANDIDATE

Ability to read and interpret engineering, As-Builts, and CIP plans.Ability to effectively communicate GIS related functions with end-users or staff.Proficient with GIS software such as ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Online.SALARY

Pay Range: $23.74 to $44.77 per hour.

Hiring Range: $23.74 to $33.41 per hour.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree or equivalent course work at a technical or vocational school, in geographic information systems, geography, planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, computer science, or a related field.OR Two years of experience working with geographic information systems.Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.The City job description can be found here .All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.For information regarding pre-screening and driving positions, click here .PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:

Experience with stormwater, water, or utility infrastructures.Experience creating maps using the ESRI ArcGIS Desktop/Pro program.
