The Assistant Vice President of External Relations and Communications (AVP) plays a crucial role in shaping the University's public image and fostering strong external relationships. Reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the AVP oversees a diverse team responsible for communications, marketing, events, and public affairs.This position involves developing and implementing strategic plans to enhance the University's visibility and reputation. Additionally, the AVP serves as a liaison to the Center for the Advancement of Women and as the executive producer of the annual Report on the Status of Women and Girls in California event, highlighting MSMU's commitment to gender equity and social justice.The AVP's responsibilities are extensive and integral to the University's success. They manage crisis communications, support the President's Office, and lead the development of integrated communication strategies. The AVP also pitches stories to national media, oversees social media management, and ensures consistent brand implementation across all platforms. Furthermore, the role involves cultivating relationships with media, policymakers, and donors, while promoting a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture.Annual Salary Range:

$130,000 to $160,000, depending on experience.

Requirements:

Candidates should bring a strong background in communications, public relations, and higher education, with excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
