SUMMARYThe Technical Design Manager should have a complete understanding of the design and technical development process from initial illustration through pre-production. They will be involved with the creating and managing of the company's seasonal development charts and will coordinate completing aspects of company tech packages to release to production. The Tech Coordinator must be organized and accountable for driving and documenting all style development to meet the company's development calendar requirements each season. This position requires working directly with the spec technician, pattern maker, designer and ultimately reporting to the Director of Product Development.Sample Tech Package Development:Tracks all phases of development on the company seasonal development chart/calendarTrack the development of each respective style listed on the seasonal line list in efforts to complete the development including: fit approvals, both black and white as well as correct color illustrations. Load all into the network and add to our tech packagesResponsible to add garments construction Details to B&W drawings for each styleTrack print development including when the pattern is approved as well as print artwork approved.Follow up with Print Director to make sure all print charts are update, match the Line List, and completed. Load all into the network and add to our tech packagesSchedule fit sessions with the teamPrepares, coordinates, and notes all salesman sample styles for pre-production. Coordinate with Pattern Maker the release of all approved patternsEnsures all final charts are included in the Tech Books: Line List, Trim Chart, Fabric ChartEnsures all final Merch Mixes and Fabric Swatch pages are correct and included in the Tech BooksWorks with the designer to make notes and prepare all sewing guide samples for the factoryWorking with the fabric coordinator to gather all seasonal fabric and trim information needed to complete company tech packagesPre-Production Tech Package Release:Review and analyze all salesman sample styles for necessary production changesCoordinate with the Spec Tech and Pattern Maker all graded production pattern releasesWork with Print Dept. to track the finalizing of all production print designsCommunicate to Production when salesman samples will be properly reviewed and released to meet the production calendar.General:Coordinates weekly meetings to keep clear communication amongst the design and tech department and report/discuss all development updatesWorks with the team towards meeting all key development calendar datesHandles all development and communication with factories and vendorsCommunicates to production any changes made to a style as it relates to any changes made in company's tech packages that have been previously released to the production department.Answer any questions we get from Customer Service inquiries.Skills and Qualifications:Associate or Bachelor's degree in Fashion DesignComplete understanding of creating style folders and technical packs for pre-production releaseComplete understanding of size specs, grading measurements, and measuring garmentsKnowledge of Garment Construction3-5 Years experience actively working in the apparel industry3-5 years experience in Microsoft Office/Excel as well as Illustrator and PhotoshopTeam oriented, organized, detail oriented, and conscientious. Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally, verbally and in writing
