Senior User Experience Designer

Information Services strategically supports the organization by:Leveraging AI, automation and rollout of advanced cyber controls that support digital transformation strategiesImplementing advanced technologies in clinical and administrative areasFurthering development of the end user support model to help enhance modern infrastructureResponsibilities:Support NM healthcare departments and Information Services in developing easy-to-use digital productsApply strategic thinking and demonstrate awareness of business goals while striving for a highly usable and engaging end-to-end user experienceDefine, socialize and implement best practices for user experience design, leveraging industry standardsTurn user experience ideas into practical, workable, testable concepts. Translate those concepts into recommendations that achieve simplicity, despite the inherent complexity of processes being supportedTranslate broad business requirements into detailed UI specifications, using a variety of tools and documents, including sitemaps, paper prototypes or wireframes, user interfaces, screen mock-ups and style guidelinesDevelop and create documentation of user personas, scenarios and tasks, as well as conceptual models and process flowsCollaborate with a cross-functional team including project managers, designers, content specialists, software developers and technical leads to produce final designs and user interface specificationsReview final implementation of UI designs/projects to ensure proper execution of the user experience and compliance with the specificationsPlan and conduct qualitative and quantitative user research. Lead and/or participate in testing, analysis, and synthesis of findings as appropriate. May include usability testing, stakeholder interviews, market research and web analyticsStay current on emerging industry trends and the competitive landscapeContribute to UAT process for all new application enhancements with Digital and cross-functional teamsParticipate in Agile development, contributing to stories, feasibility, and estimationsProactively identify problem areas and offer solutions with attention to detailProvide mentorship to and engage in training other user experience designers to grow the overall UX disciplineQualificationsRequired:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience5 or more years relevant experienceExpert knowledge of user interface design, information design, usability principlesExperience with creating complex, user-centric websitesFamiliarity with web and mobile design/technologies and their impact on both work practices and the feasibility of solutionsProject management skills including scope definition, meeting deadlines, managing multiple priorities/initiatives simultaneously, stakeholder management and corporate accountabilityExperience with the user-centered design (UCD) process and experience in designing transactional applicationsSolid understanding of information architecture, mastery of user interface design and strong visual design sensibilityDemonstrated ability to create and leverage requirements assets such as: use cases, wireframes, prototypes and presentationsAbility to lead user research techniques such as: contextual inquiry, user interviews and usability testing; solid understanding of how to incorporate insights from user research into the user interface design process.Proficiency in industry tools, such as: Adobe Creative Suite, Visio, Blazor, Figma, Zeplin, Sketch, Azure, Sitecore, Weebly, etc.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsPreferred:Experience within healthcare, major consumer brand or large corporate environmentExperience in or knowledge of website/application development or codingExperience working with mobile devices and technologies, including iOS and AndroidEqual OpportunityNorthwestern Medicine is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in hiring or employment on the basis of age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, gender identity, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation or any other protected status.
