Multimedia Specialist (12-Month Position)

POSITION OVERVIEWThis position reports directly to the Chief Communications Officer and works closely with all members of the communications team. The designated scope of work relates directly to the success of the communications department in respect to any/all communications, social media posts, school/district websites, special programming and any other district-wide communication needs. The primary focus of this position is multimedia content to include communications tactics such as videography, photography, graphic design in support of all Appoquinimink schools. individual hired for this role will employ their creative, artistic, and hands-on technical skills to produce multimedia deliverables from across those disciplines and around central themes to be featured via websites, social media, newsletters and other Appoquinimink School District communications channels. This position requires exceptional teamwork skills as this department is often supporting multiple initiatives simultaneously district-wide.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all the responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate:

Produce and create multimedia content (photos, videos, graphic elements) to support and engage internal and external audiences with content focused on the work being done throughout the Appoquinimink School District.Multimedia content will include showcasing of district-wide events to be used on all district communications channels including (but not limited to): websites, social media platforms, marketing materials, news media agencies, etc.Attends school-based events including (but not limited to) concerts, sporting events, School Board Meetings, special recognition events, etc. to capture and create content.Works as the lead graphic designer in support of district-wide events and promotional materials.Creates content in support of district initiatives, working closely with a variety of departments within the district office.Supports the communication office in daily tasks including planning and preparing for events. This may include a wide variety of tasks from content creation to preparation and setup of events.Collaborates with ASD Communications team for district-wide initiatives, such as distributing deploying marketing communications tools across all district schools.Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBelow are the qualifications for this position:

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or equivalent degree programFive (5) years of experience in communications field position such as content development and productionMust possess high-level proficiency in photography, videography, photo and video editing, graphics, web, and multimedia softwareExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with othersAbility to coordinate workload to meet established schedules/deadlinesDemonstrates ability to make decisions, to work under pressure and to exercise good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in performance of dutiesDemonstrates pleasant, cooperative attitudeDemonstrates good attendance record (school or employment)Effective communication skillsAbility to work independentlyWork as a team player with other departments and schoolsCommunicates information effectively in oral and written form

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this position:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSThe work of this class is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the ability to move around the school and classroom. This position requires extensive travel in order to make relevant contacts (as needed).
