Department Information

Our team is responsible for communications and marketing projects that advance the mission and strengthen the brand of the IU College of Arts & Sciences. We focus on College-wide initiatives, including brand development and management, user-focused website development for our departments and programs, and recruitment marketing strategy and products. The College values diversity, equity, and inclusion as a core strength and essential element in the success of its educational mission.

Job Summary

The College's Communications & Marketing office employs several student writers who generate 600-800 word news stories for the College's homepage and news page, and social media channels. Topics covered include: student experiences (in the classroom, with career preparation, service impacts, and awards), faculty scholarship and teaching (courses taught, groundbreaking articles and books published, service awards, achievements and awards), and spotlights of the College's departments, programs, centers and institutes.

Department-Specific ResponsibilitiesWrites 600-800 word news and feature stories for the College.Researches and fact checks information, including ensuring accuracy of quotes used in articles.Complies with IU editorial guidelines, and meets Communications & Marketing's deadlines.Exercises ability to identify, pitch, and tell compelling and authentic stories that showcase the College's vibrant intellectual community, and its impact.

EDUCATION
