Job Summary

The Special Events and Communications Manager

is a key leadership role within the Tennessee STEM Innovation Network (TSIN). This position is responsible for overseeing project management, communications, and office management with a focus on Battelle's education and philanthropic work. The role involves strategic planning and execution of marketing and communication plans for the TSIN, as well as leading special event planning.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership in Marketing and Communications

Formulate and implement comprehensive communications and marketing strategies for TSIN, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals.Oversee the creation and execution of TSIN's social media strategy, including content creation, sourcing, and maintaining regular posting cadence.Represent TSIN in state-level education groups and initiatives to advance the network's efforts.Identifies client needs and strategies on how to ensure goals are met.Mobilizies resources working to meet or exceed all project deliverables, such as the annual report, monthly newsletters and establishing project charters and goals, including managing the communication strategy for TSIN.Facilitates sharing of best practices; encourages participation in network programming, and acts as a liaison to regional hubs, academic institutions, or other external partners.Program Support for TSIN

Lead the recruitment of TSIN programs through strategic use of marketing and communication channels.Collaborate with Relationship Managers to identify communication needs and contribute to monthly learning webinars and other TSIN events.Develop concept papers, proposals, and state-level highlights to share with funders and the public, including creating data visuals.Event Planning Leadership for TSIN

Oversee the planning, design, and production of large-scale conferences within specified time limits.Manage all event details such as decor, catering, entertainment, parking, location, attendee registration, equipment, learning sessions, promotional material etc.Proactively address any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on event days.Conduct pre- and post-event evaluations, report on outcomes, conduct market research, and identify event opportunities that will generate interest for intended audiences.Key Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in public relations, marketing, business disciplines or a related field. 2-5 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or similar field.Highly adaptable within a collaborative work environment.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Exceptional organizational skills and creativity.Strong computer skills and graphic design experience are a plus.A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing various projects concurrently.Self-starter, able to work independently as well as with a team.Knowledge and understanding of conference application design and implementation preferred.Occasional travel is expected (i.e., 30% of the time).Benefits: Live an Extraordinary LifeWe care about your well-being, not just on the job.
