**[Educational and Experience Requirement: [Bachelors degree in marketing, journalism, mass communications, or a related field is required. Masters degree is preferred. The candidate must have a minimum of five years of professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field, with at least three years in a management or supervisory role and a minimum of one year in marketing for higher education.

**[Nature and Purpose of Position: [The Director of Marketing will report to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). This position is responsible for the planning, coordination, and management of Sam Houston State Universitys (SHSU) strategic marketing campaigns in collaboration with all other Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) departments, including Creative, Digital, Athletics, and Communications/Executive Communications. The Director will enhance the universitys public presence through comprehensive marketing campaigns and planning, utilizing SHSUs brand standards and writing style for guidance. The Director will serve as the primary IMC collaborator with the Strategic Enrollment and Innovation (SEI) team and will develop and oversee the Admissions Communication Plan as principal. This role includes oversight (management), guidance, and coaching for SHSUs embedded Marketing Communicators.

**[Primary Responsibilities: [Provides direction, integration, and implementation of marketing campaigns and strategic marketing direction for all undergraduate enrollment audiences and communicates across all modes (print, digital, etc.). Maintains and enacts a comprehensive enrollment communications plan to all relevant audiences (including prospective students, parents, school counselors, independent consultants, and campus audiences). Creates and approves traditional and digital communications and marketing products that support marketing products that support Enrollment/Admissions activities and programs and engage identified target audiences. Reviews, manages, and approves enrollment content across traditional and digital channels with content providers and edits/tracks for consistency, accuracy, and timeliness. Assures the integrity, high quality, and consistency of the universitys image, tone, style, narrative, visual identity, and brand. Oversees and directs College Marketing Communicators, organizes and delegates work assignments, and communicates with the university community. Responsible for budget preparation and planning for marketing initiatives and manages projects to ensure timely and accurate implementation. This includes overseeing campaign development and marketing project management for publications, advertising, social media, digital/online communications, marketing automation, and print services. Performs other related duties as assigned.

**[Other Specifications: [The Director of Marketing must have experience in strategic planning for enrolling undergraduate, transfer, and graduate students. An integrated approach to branding, marketing, and communications is essential. This role requires teamwork, project leadership/management, and a collaborative approach to working with external/internal cross-functional teams. The Director must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and a working knowledge of AP style guidelines.

[The role demands strong interpersonal, speaking, and written communication skills, proficiency in computer and related technology skills, and the ability to maintain composure under pressure. The Director will be involved with executive contacts, including university administrators, Deans, Vice Presidents, faculty, committees, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and various state, regional, and national agencies and organizations. Relationship building, motivational and team skills are crucial, along with the a ility to utilize electronic media in communication efforts.

*[Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
