Job Summary

Function: Assist with the branding, communication, and change management plans for a department or division. Responsible for writing, implementing, and maintaining professional-level guidelines, forms, training guides, flowcharts, newsletters, brochures, and related business correspondence.

Scope: Responsible for the organization and execution of communications and marketing activitiesin support of the Division of Business Affairs.

Core ResponsibilitiesProvides management and coordination of communication and marketing deliverables, as well as organizes and schedules communication plans in collaboration with assigned service areas.Coordinates the creation and execution of marketing and communication campaigns and materials in various mediums to be used to engage targeted audiences, ensuring consistent and thoughtful messaging is being executed.Working closely with Business Affairs Strategic Communications leadership, maintaining communications branding for assigned areas, working to raise awareness, improve campus perceptions, and drive actions related to services or assigned initiatives.Writes, edits, and produces internal communications, campaigns, publications, and advertisements to market assigned service areas and communicate to appropriate audiences.Develops and maintains communication plans as assigned.Works closely and collaborates with Business Affairs Strategic Communications' systems administrator, web developer, and graphic designer for planning, creation, and execution of web and multimedia communication campaign elements.Coordinates the timely review, revision, approval, and implementation of communications for assigned projects.Facilitates feedback and refinement of communications processes and channels as needed.Creates and edits materials as assigned, working in coordination with team members.Effectively communicates progress to partners and stakeholders (both internally and externally) and regularly participates in meetings with partners. Establishes strong working relationships with subject matter experts in various areas.Assists with the development of digital publications such as newsletters, web content, and articles. Includes working with assigned service areas to brainstorm topics, writing and editing articles and/or other content, and more.Creates and submits content for university-wide publications, such as UTSA This Week, Campus Link, and other newsletters/digests.Develops surveys, collaborating with assigned service areas or Business Affairs Strategic Communications leadership.Tracks the progress of all assigned projects from initiation to implementation. Provides status updates as requested, ensuring projects stay on track.Supervises, mentors, and evaluates assigned student employees. The need varies from semester to semester.Performs other duties as assigned.Periodic:

Assists with special projects.Researches and summarizes information as requested.Writes briefings, speeches, and presentations.Attends meetings and serves on committees.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field from an accredited institution.Five (5) years of experience writing, editing, and producing communications.Experience with using Adobe Photoshop & Acrobat Professional.Experience writing content for websites.Demonstrated understanding of English language usage, writing styles, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.Outstanding writing and verbal communication skills.Ability to organize and track projects and tasks to ensure accuracy, high quality, and timely completion; maintain attention to detail while managing multiple priorities.Ability to listen and adapt content into effective policies, procedures, desk manuals, workflow charts, visual aids, and/or quick reference guides.Ability to recognize when business process improvements may be necessary and to recommend changes proactively.Ability to understand and creatively solve complex problems in a deadline-driven environment.Ability to research identify and document best practices of other institutions of comparable complexity and size.Personal computer, various desktop publishing software, and standard office equipment.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Communications or a related field from an accredited institution.Experience in higher education, government, or nonprofit environment.Experience with Salesforce.Experience with Basecamp or a similar project management system.Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud suite, including Adobe Express.Experience working within a website content management system (CMS) such as Cascade, or WordPress.Additional Information

Office environment.Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.Occasional after-hours and weekend work or overtime may be required.Physical Demands:

Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.

Hybrid-Occasionally : This position primarily works

both remotely in Texas and on campus on an infrequent basis

(approximately four days or less per month). When an employee is required to work on campus, travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
