WPHW is a non-profit organization that serves four federally recognized tribes located in five communities: the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians, the Aroostook Band of Mi'kmaq, the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Indian Township, the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point, and the Penobscot Nation. Wabanaki traditions, language, and culture guide our approach and describe the ways we live in harmony with each other and the land we collectively share. Services are available to community members living on and off-reservation across the state of Maine.

Position Summary:

Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness is looking for a well-seasoned professional to fill the full-time position of Multimedia Specialist. This position will provide a multi-faceted communications framework of still photography, videography, podcast creation, digital graphic design, audio, and interactive multimedia for WPHW. This position will include a significant amount of traveling and coordination with the other departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work with Leadership Support and communication team members to receive work orders, work with individuals requesting support, and identify project requirements and needs. Determine the scope of each media request and conduct a site survey when needed; Establish and ensure an updated, clear, and updated timeline is in Click Up.Create content for WPHW team members through multiple mediums, such as still photography, videography, audio capturing, creation of podcasts, and digital graphic design, to create interactive and engaging multimedia products.Products will include full metadata as well as closed captioning.Make multiple edits on Podcast content ensuring a finial cut is produced by the proper deadline. Work with Leadership Support to help steam Podcast on proper casting platforms and maintain and track progress using a team project plan.Edit products to meet the organization's high-quality standards and fulfill the departments' requests for current or future release, documentation, or training. Ensures all deadlines are met, if not completed ahead of time.Organize and create a comprehensive repository for all products. The repository will use the appropriate naming convention, event, types of images, department, and quick access folders, i.e., elders, food, and nature, to name a few.Maintain WPHW's equipment (camera's, Speakers, etc.) Ensure that the WPHW communications supplies are stored, maintained and dispersed appropriately and within WPHW policy.Support WPHW team members to support products focused on community engagement, WPHW departmental needs, and conveying essential information to those in the Wabanaki Communities. Provide communications support for events, conferences, classes, and other identified tasks on weekdays and weekends and have the flexibility to fill in when needed, within reason.Will be required to complete ongoing trainings related to essential job functions as needed to ensure proper care and usage of WPHW equipment.Perform other duties as assigned.Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in communications, English, new media, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience or four years of related experience.Experience in storytelling, writing, and photography required.Experience with project management required.Experience working with the tribal communities in Maine preferred.Skills and Qualifications Required:

Excellent written and oral communication skills essential.Excellent interpersonal skills.Must have the ability to engage individuals to share their stories.Developed knowledge of rapidly evolving communications technologies, graphic design, photography, ideas, and social networking media.Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, short deadlines, and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Ability to identify and resolve issues, manage risk, develop detailed work plans and specifications, perform resource allocations, and run team meetings.Ability to handle multiple projects, short deadlines, and shifting priorities.Ability to keep confidentiality.Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout Wabanaki territory in Maine.Must be able to perform physical office duties, such as light to medium lifting (25-50 lbs.)Must be able to conduct themselves in a professional manner.Must ensure that work produced is ADA-compliant and culturally appropriate for the Indigenous communities we serve.Must pass criminal background check.
