The 189-room IU Hotel and Biddle Conference Center is the largest hotel in Bloomington and the only hotel on the IU Bloomington campus. Job Summary

The Director of Sales will deepen and strengthen our relationships with existing partners and develop new relationships with new clients.

Department-Specific ResponsibilitiesProvides operational management and oversight to team of 4-6 dedicated hotel and catering sales professionals.Identify areas of improvement and implement solutions to improve processes and/or operational efficiency.Reserves and books catering and events within the 50,000 square feet of event space located in the Indiana Memorial Union, as well as elsewhere on the Bloomington campus.Reserves and books hotel room blocks at the 189-room IMU Biddle Hotel for conferences, events, groups, and corporate clients.Manages client relationships for our key partnership accounts.Develops and tracks new business contacts and records production.Participates in community and IU partner organization coordination.Negotiates and generates group room and event agreements on behalf of IU Hospitality.Responsible for the production, distribution, and management of Banquet Event orders.Directs a staff of 4-6 Sales Coordinators and tracks productivity.Assists with onsite event management of key events and conferences throughout the year.Researches and stays up to date on new industry event standards, regulations, and specifications.Manages high level assignments and allocation of IMU event resources, including negotiating and coordination between clients, university departments, and IU Hospitality staff to implement a high volume of high-quality events on a frequent basis.Serves as a member of the IU Hospitality Hotel Revenue Management Team.Works with culinary and catering event staff on menu development and ensures customer feedback is reflected in the selection of new offerings.Works collaboratively with other IMU and IU departments to care for students and employees, maximize service and event satisfaction, and ensure profitability of the operating unit.Attends local trade shows and participates in local events or with trade organizations that showcases IU Hospitality and its offerings.General ResponsibilitiesEstablishes operational plans for sales team and manages day-to-day matters in this area.Sets goals and objectives for advertising/sales staff and provides guidance on difficult or complex issues, including clients, accounts, and contracts.Develops and implements new processes, standards, and policies that impact advertising/sales operations in the short-term.Identifies and may help implement cost-savings and revenue-increasing strategies.Acts as a liaison with creative services and production staff; maintains operating standards.Reviews analysis of transactions and accounts against targeted goals and may help implement solutions.Trains, coaches, and mentors advertising/sales staff and determines staffing needs.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role should be able to move up to 15 pounds. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$80,000 per year based on candidate experience and qualifications.
