The Growth and Marketing Manager is responsible for the strategic development and execution of comprehensive growth initiatives to support the current and expanding Northern California market for Optum. This role requires a leader with strong organizational qualities who can execute innovative initiatives from inception to completion, such as provider segmentation, agent assignment, and yearly growth planning. This role will also require the ability to leverage analytical skills to make business decisions and strong project management expertise to lead all Growth and Retention and Marketing efforts for the local market. Lastly, this role will require the ability to assess the market, and prepare and present ongoing status reports, market findings, and overall efforts of the Growth and Retention strategy.

Positions in this function are involved in the plan, design, and development of driving initiatives within Optum Group locations and IPA's and are intended to support the overall growth of group patient membership.

Positions in this function are responsible for the regional strategic development of MA and Commercial growth in Optum group locations.

Position ensures alignment with group leadership's critical targets across tiers, categories, all LOB's, and conversion metrics.

Establish and meet growth metric and target goals by leveraging critical resources. Includes clear understanding of Salesforce, conversion tactics, Optum networks, target growth and budgets

Develops performance reporting, establish baselines and growth plan development

Identifies and resolves technical, operational, and organizational problems outside own team

Growth plan decisions are most likely to impact entire functions (internal or external)

Primary Responsibilities:

Partnership Development and Management

Develop/maintain relationships with channel partners to drive membership and identify drivers of patient prospecting and retention (e.g., co-op strategy with Agents, growth initiatives with health plans, etc.)

Strategize and engage the stakeholders required to meet the business need (e.g., make sure the right contacts are also decision makers at provider offices and the right partners at the health plan and Agency level)

Identify and address problems/issues that exist or emerge in stakeholder relationships to ensure productive long-term partnerships, as appropriate (e.g., transform challenging relationships to be productive and beneficial)

Collaborate and coordinate across the IPA and Group Operations teams to optimize the patient onboarding experience

Identify and Promote Network Provider Needs:

Build/maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, to align on priorities and areas of focus for annual growth planning. Key stakeholders may include but not limited to:

PCP, Provider Relations, Agents or Agencies, Health Plans, contracting, regional leadership, etc.

Identify creative solutions to meeting regional needs in ways that meet our business objectives and key performance indicators

Demonstrate knowledge of current group business landscape and historical performance, through assessment of data through proprietary and public data (Power BI, Sales Force, CMS, etc.)

Provide thought leadership to the regional operations team to help educate on best practices and emerging trends in the market

Develop and Execute Tactical Marketing plans:

Development of tactical marketing plans for partnering providers, including but not limited to co-op, event sponsorship, agent and health plan partnering, local business building programs, and community initiatives

Coordinates requests to process ordering of marketing materials, Optum value training, lunch n learns, provider office camps, and ad hoc requests from partners, etc.

Monitors and measures the effectiveness of marketing events through the tracking process and results of the lead generation process

Create monthly provider newsletter content, with relevant market and priority information

Analyze Opportunities to Drive Effective Business Decisions:

Collaborate with regional teams to determine high-growth potential offices for both Group and IPA (Annual Planning + Quarterly Refresh)

Access/utilize/analyze data to drive identification and pursuit of specific opportunities and plan development (e.g., ROI, market research, marketing budgets, sales forecasts, demographics, healthcare utilization, market size, membership potential)

Monitor/interpret changing market conditions and performance to meet business goals and expectations with the ability to adjust as needed

Maintain awareness of current and emerging trends and changes in the healthcare industry (e.g., Healthcare policy, CMS updates and changes, regulatory changes, etc.)

Assess attrition through internal systems and create mitigation plans with Operations to improve attrition and reduce disenrollment triggers

5+ years of applicable healthcare growth experience

Proven effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills that can meet all types of communication styles and role levels from C-Suite to Junior staffers

Proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple initiatives simultaneously

Proven proficiency in managing time effectively to meet deadlines and deliver quality results

Proven proficient problem-solving approach to quickly assess the current state and develop solutions independently

Proven proficient in translating healthcare-related jargon and complex processes into simple, step-by-step instructions members and provider partners can understand and act upon

Bilingual in either of the following: Vietnamese or Chinese, and English

Living in the San Jose or Santa Clara County geography

Ability to travel locally to support community events or provider support, 50% of the time

California Residents Only:

The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
