This position is hybrid, but please note that this position includes periodic travel to Goodwill sites in our territory as well as in-office days at the corporate office. Therefore, the preferred candidate should live within commuting distance of our corporate office in downtown Indianapolis. The general salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000, but it is open to negotiation during the interview process.

The role of Creative Manager at Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana (GCSI) manages multiple creative projects, while simultaneously conceptualizing and designing materials for various initiatives, and coordinating production and installation processes. The manager will create and update designs for projects such as signage, environmental graphics, promotional materials, event graphics, and digital media. They oversee production and installation processes and develop materials for internal and external audiences across GCSIs business units, including donors, shoppers, employees, financial donors, B2B customers, community and business leaders, policymakers, students, and families connected to GCSI programs. The Manager works closely with the Marketing and Communications (MARCOM) team and the Director, Creative Services, managing design coordinators and outsourced resources. They participate in brainstorming sessions, plan and execute new initiatives and projects, and ensure the delivery of creative projects within tight deadlines. The areas of focus for this role include the retail enterprise, commercial services business, foundation, corporate, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), employee communications, mission, and education divisions. The manager collaborates with the MARCOM team and reports to the Director, Creative Services.

Example Duties and Activities

Manages creative workflow and provides design expertise for the Creative Services Team to provide effective materials in an efficient time frame. Provides recommendations on improvements to materials and processes throughout the creative process to save costs and time. Provides insight and recommendations to improve creative materials/collateral for maximum effectiveness across all channels utilized.

Conceptualizes, designs, and coordinates the production of a wide variety of creative projects while protecting and maintaining brand consistency.

Manages, prioritizes, and successfully executes multiple simultaneous projects with tight deadlines by executing designs, utilizing Design Coordinator(s) and outsourced resources as needed.

Works directly with the MARCOM team and key stakeholders throughout the organization on the development of project needs, timelines, and budgets. Provides feedback and reviews work by the design team for projects across the organization.

Coordinates production including managing outside vendor resources and ensures installation/implementation of the finished product. Financially evaluates cost/benefit options for various strategic sourcing solutions.

Develops creative problem-solving designs and presents recommended solutions to key stakeholders throughout the organization.

Participates in interior space planning for environmental graphics in retail, education, and corporate locations.

Travels to GCSI facilities located within the territory as needed for planning and projects.

Coordinates mailings/deliveries of print materials and manages installations of large format graphics/signs as needed.

Strives for continuous product improvement and builds a knowledge base of GCSIs diverse business units and their goals.

Designs and evelops digital, interactive, and web-based media to meet customer requirements and usability standards.

Provides creative insight and ideas in marketing and corporate team meetings.

Coordinates and directs photo shoots as needed with outsourced photographers/videographers.

Manages, coaches, and develops creative entities and related staff members.

Assists staff in identifying strengths and/or gaps, and develops strategies to optimize strengths and address gaps using a strength-based approach.

Required Competencies

Degree and Credential Requirements - Bachelors degree in visual communications, graphic design, or a related field.

Graphic Design Expertise - Has a track record of success in the ability to strategically develop, conceptualize, design, and produce effective design solutions. Knowledgeable about preparing print design files for print vendors. Stays relevant and current with design techniques as evidenced by a strong online visual portfolio. Adept at utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat).

Creative Direction - Experienced in producing effective design work and leading/mentoring a creative team of designers, photographers, and videographers (both internal and outsourced). Enables direct reports and co-workers to grow and succeed through feedback, instruction, and encouragement to ensure their success and the accomplishment of organizational goals. Solid knowledge of web, digital media, and social media practices. Knowledgeable of various printing/production processes including large format/flatbed printing, printing presses, packaging capabilities, and ability to determine best production processes for projects.

Project Management (Marketing) - Oversees multiple workstreams and delivers against scopes implementing strategies that outline time, resources, requirements, deadlines, and answers to unexpected events to streamline the process and achieve successful project completion. Coordinates production including managing outside vendor resources and ensures installation/implementation of the finished product. Financially evaluates cost/benefit options for various strategic sourcing solutions and effectively negotiates and manages budgets. Demonstrates leadership skills, especially around communication/innovative solutions to problems, concerns, issues, and roadblocks.

Planning and Prioritization - Manages competing demands by effectively organizing and prioritizing projects considering operational objectives/timelines and maintaining customer service excellence. Excellent time management, planning, scheduling, and coordination skills. Is able to work in a highly structured environment and quickly adapts to changes in priorities or deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude. Effectively navigates complex situations to ensure that tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
