Frick Fine Arts Library Specialist

The Frick Fine Arts Library, part of the University Library System (ULS), is seeking a service-oriented person who enjoys highly-detailed work, building relationships with students and faculty, and creative problem-solving.Work includes:Providing excellent public service, including information about and assistance with library collections, and providing high-quality reference service, identifying and referring to appropriate liaison librarians or other ULS personnel for expert, customized research assistance.Fulfilling book and document delivery services.Coordinating and processing all course reserve materials, demonstrating a willingness to think creatively, flexibly, and respond to instructors' goals.Managing the care, transport, and use of rare materials at the Frick Fine Arts Library.Monitoring physical facility and equipment (other than computer devices) and making service calls as needed.Leading introductory library research sessions for undergraduate courses as needed.Experience with studio arts and/or art history is desired but not required.Must be public-service oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Must be able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure with a diverse clientele in a constantly changing environment with many interruptions. Excellent computer, organizational and communication skills requiredAccuracy, initiative, good judgment, flexibility, timeliness, and high productivity are crucial.The work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm

Job Summary

Assists personnel, answers inquiries, locates materials, and provides guidance related to library services. Researches and identifies resources to support informational needs. Maintains and updates online library systems and guides student employees.

Essential Functions

Communication skills, specifically oral and written, are required to complete many of the job tasks.

Must be able to work at a pc. Incumbent needs to be mobile in performing duties. This includes walking (up and down stairs), lifting books, journals, boxes of paper and pushing book and storage trucks.

Physical Effort

This is an active position requiring the incumbent to walk, bend, twist, push, and lift. Use of computer keyboard, telephone, and fax machine is required. Physical effort is required daily. Must be able to move freely within the library; retrieves books and journal volumes. The position requires some lifting of boxes and mail bins containing books and journal volumes, as well as pushing loaded book trucks.
