Position description

LIGHTING DESIGN LECTURER SEARCH

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, IRVINE - CLAIRE TREVOR SCHOOL OF THE ARTS, DEPARTMENT OF DRAMA

The Department of Drama is establishing a search of qualified applicants for a position as a part-time lecturer for Fall Quarter 2024 (September 23rd through December 13th) and Winter Quarter 2025 (January 2nd through March 21st) in the curriculum area of Lighting Design.

The department seeks applicants to teach undergraduate and graduate-level classes in advanced lighting design. We are additionally seeking mentors for graduate design projects.

Must have at least three years of teaching experience at a college level.

An MFA, or commensurate experience, in Drama/Theater Arts is required. At least three years' experience as a LORT/Regional theatre lighting designer or commensurate experience is also required.

We particularly seek candidates who can teach architectural lighting, advanced grandMA programming, or Depence rendering.

We are open to considering other specialties as well.

Candidates for this position must have strong professional credits in lighting design and a strong commitment to teaching, training, and working in a university environment. Candidates must demonstrate a pedagogical and professional profile that is compatible with distinguished undergraduate training at a major research university. Candidates should show a demonstrated ability and commitment to work effectively with a diverse student population.
