Minimum: $53,500 - Midpoint: $66,900 (Salaried E8)

Job Summary:

The Communications Specialist III writes and edits communications for a college, division, and/or the University under minimal supervision. Develops and implements plans, activities, and tactics to support the goals of assigned areas. Coordinates the production of materials and resources through a variety of platforms, including digital and physical mediums. Participates in planning and execution of special projects to support the assigned area's overall development and marketing strategies.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications experience.

Skills and Knowledge:

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Sound knowledge of journalistic principles. Direct experience working with designers, web developers, print shops and others in communications field. Ability to craft communication plans. Demonstrated skills in writing and editing, website posting, interpersonal skills and diplomacy. Ability to think and plan strategically as part of a team to develop and implement appropriate tactical support of the plan. Serve on the crisis communications team. AP Style / WordPress.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in print, web and editing/writing. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in computer skills. Keen knowledge of AP Style with ability to edit quickly with a high percentage of accuracy. Multimedia experience or knowledge is a plus.
