We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Communication Initiatives Director to join our team. This is a two-year program-specific position. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing effective communications campaigns and initiatives to help the public gain greater understanding of the role of public health as well as to enhance appreciation of the role of public health in keeping society healthy and contributing to a strong economy. This role requires strategic and creative thinking, excellent communication skills and a proven track record in managing successful multi-channel communications initiatives working with partners, consultants and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Strategy: Plan, develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies that align with the CDC Foundation's goals and objectives for this project. Manage market research to identify target audiences and appropriate messaging. Set measurable goals and objectives for each initiative.Partner Relations: Engage and enlist partners in developing initiatives as well as in carrying messages forward.Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, journalists and influencers. Prepare and distribute press releases, media kits and other communications materials. Arrange and coordinate media interviews and events.Content Creation: Create and lead the development of compelling and engaging content, ranging from press releases to articles and blog posts to social media and content use on other channels. Oversee the development of multimedia content, including videos, infographics and presentations.Execution of Initiatives: Manage and execute communications efforts across various platforms, including print, digital and social media. Monitor performance and adjust strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure cohesive messaging.Management of consultants, vendors and team members: While the Foundation's communications department staff will be actively engaged in the management of the communications plan, consultants and vendors with required expertise will be utilized to meet certain needs. The establishment and management of these relationships will be the responsibility of the Communication Initiatives Director. In addition, collaborate with cross-functional teams within the Foundation as part of overall project management.Crisis Management: Develop and implement crisis communication proactive and reactive plans to manage and mitigate potential negative publicity.Performance Analysis: Analyze the effectiveness of communications initiatives using metrics such as media coverage, audience reach, engagement levels and shifts in awareness and perceptions. Prepare detailed reports and analytics on performance of initiatives and provide insights for future improvements.Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors, agencies and other third-party partners.Team Leadership: Work with a team of communications professionals working in a matrix environment on these initiatives, providing guidance and support. Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or a related field.Proven experience (7-10 years) in communications/public relations/marketing, with a focus on campaign management and digital marketing.Strong understanding of media relations, digital marketing and social media management and platforms.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to both produce and oversee development of team members producing content and materials, as well as possess strong communications, writing, presentation development and presentation skills, social marketing and media measurement skills.Experience with partner engagement.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Experience with budget management and resource allocation.Experience with crisis media management and issue resolution.Proficiency in communications/public relations software and tools (e.g., Cision, Trello, Sprout Social, Salesforce).Preferred Skills

Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Advertising or a related field.Certification in Public Relations or related professional qualifications.Experience in a specific relevant industry (e.g., public health, healthcare, etc.).About the CDC Foundation
