MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / COMPETENCIESThe Global Strategic Marketing (GSM) leader is responsible for shaping the innovation agenda and pipeline for STAAR's unique implantable collamer lens (ICL) platform. This leader will lead definition and delivery of multiple innovation projects to achieve our global business objectives and drive strategic growth trajectory in conjunction with this key platform. This leader will work with global commercial and cross-functional teams to ensure:• Customer-centric thinking into the new product development process to ensure new products represent a meaningful business opportunity. This leader shall ensure customer market research to drive the development and expansion of the product strategic plans including discovery of unmet customer needs, refinement of product features and benefits, and gain insight into market dynamics.• Implementation of agile phased gate approach to accelerate new product development and commercialization, guiding cross-functional team development of the projects in the portfolio; and driving strategic resource planning in conjunction with the senior leadership.• Evaluation of strategic opportunity, roadmap for implementation and governance for portfolio evaluation and optimization. They will ensure the quality and robustness of the integrated planning and deliver a pipeline of projects to support the organizations overall success.• Coordination and management of all aspects of the implementation of new products including planning, organizing, leading, and managing product launch programs, activities, and implementation.Furthermore, the successful GSM Innovation leader will have the ability to function at a broad-based, strategic level while being capable of driving detailed, tactical execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES• This role owns pipeline and portfolio strategy including new product index, new product development, claims/messaging delivery, product, and operational readiness stages of launch strategy for the platform.• Ability to establish and execute platform strategic direction and define requirements for successful in-market commercial opportunity. Critical inputs to include market analysis and strategy, business case development, concept development for new product positioning, demand forecasts and assumptions to drive regional business cases, etc.• Ensure flawless commercial launch execution in partnership with Commercial leaders via development of aligned MKTG launch planning (strategic pricing, positioning, packaging, etc.), long-range operational planning processes, including long-range forecasting and strategic product planning, delivery of key assets and claims to support launch (product readiness) to Commercial teams and ongoing launch tracking.• Drive for new Innovation territories by ensuring understanding and syndication of voice for customer (Physicians, Technicians, and Distributors) and internal stakeholders.• Collaborate with senior Leaders in R&D, Commercial Leaders, Regulatory Affairs and Quality leaders in the development process to solve unmet user needs and deliver business goals. Working with internal and external partners to ensure optimal plan development (insight-based territories and communication based on market research), competitive positioning given evolving market landscape, product innovation pipeline. Develop financial models for new product projects (ROI) to guide trade-off decision making.• Consistently evaluate market needs, customer needs and competitive products to optimize marketing plans and new product development planning. Development of key business partnerships across the industry to further STAAR Surgical's priorities and growth across the ophthalmic space.• Function with a high amount of collaboration with cross-functional teams, with the potential of leading marketing personnel. Additional to above - critical collaboration with Technical Writer to develop and design Instructions for Use (IFU) or Operators Manual. Develop User Preference Evaluation (UPE) plans, execute, assess, and summarize results.• Up to 30% domestic and international travel required.• Position located in Lake Forest, CA• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & TRAININGBachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/experience. Advanced degree in a related field (MBA preferred).

EXPERIENCE• Minimum of 10 years of marketing is required with prior experience of leading teams.• Global strategic marketing experience preferred with a proven record of strategic leadership including new product launch execution, integrated communications, strategic and business plan development; global product management (or equivalent) experience, preferred. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, query and analyze data and make data-driven decisions.• A demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional and senior management to impact decision-making and shape innovation based on unique customer insights, growth opportunities, and priorities. Prior experience working with Legal, Regulatory and Global partners is required.• Experience in the medical device industry, particularly Ophthalmology preferred.• Experience in leading organizational change management to adapt to and reflect changing business landscape, organizational shifts, etc.

SKILLS• Proven skills at leading Marketing personnel across direct and indirect reporting lines to achieve business objectives in agile business environment across divergent global markets.• Strong strategic acumen, quantitative/analytical skills with the ability to prioritize growth opportunities based on deep analysis, financial impact and results.• Ability to interface with cross functional teams, partners and senior leadership to achieve NPI milestones.• Highly motivated, organized and self-starting leadership; demonstrated ability to partner across departments, functions and regions to deliver key innovation plans and execution.• Excellent power of influence and motivation to drive strategy alignment, plan execution and change management across an organization.• Strong communication skills and cross-cultural sensitivity with experience presenting to executive teams as well as key stakeholders (customers, partners, etc.)• Ability to assimilate information quickly, navigate complex business environments and ensure agile decision-making.

Pay range is $190-$235k - Final compensation will depend on experience.
