Job Responsibilities:

Communications Research and Writing

Creates written copy for department materials including print and electronic publications, social media, news stories, newsletters, news briefs, event listings, and advertising

Responsible for research, including gathering and fact-checking information to prepare accurate written copy while meeting deadlines. Research includes identifying publication and distribution issues and opportunities.

Provides copywriting, editing, and proofreading of department materials as they are readied for publication. Research includes identifying publication and distribution issues and opportunities.

Content Marketing

Manages and executes content marketing deliverables to cover topics aligned with RIT and Saunders strategy. Content management includes executing a content creation calendar covering an optimal mix of marketing outlets including onsite displays, internal and external websites, social media posts and influencers, email distribution, and print and outdoor advertising.

Analyzes digital reports including Google Analytics, Social Media, and email distribution reports for presentations and pulls out key findings to help make decisions for improving the effectiveness of content marketing plans.

Digital Media Management

Serves as primary content webmaster for saunders.rit.edu, applying metrics-driven, goals-orientated planning. Manages look and feel, navigational architecture, and content to optimize SEO and SEM results

Works with Saunders Technical Support, RIT Production Services, and ITS to address programming needs

Develops and maintains a sustainable social media presence for Saunders with consistent branding across sites. Manages an optimal mix of social media sites to maintain coverage of each.

Coordinates content on non-Saunders websites. Maintains catalog of external websites that reference Saunders web pages or contain Saunders information.

Marketing Coordination

Coordinates the dissemination of marketing materials via the website, email, social media, and print

Identifies opportunities on social media, internal distribution lists, and custom or purchased lists

Supports all marketing and communications and objectives including admissions activities, prospect and applicant communications series, and event promotions

Works with recruitment and promotions personnel to support pre- and post-event marketing and promotions to increase attendance and awareness of Saunders events

Maintains on-campus communication assets such as display cases and brochure holders

Administrative Support

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree

Minimum 1-3 years of related experience

Requires strong writing and communication skills

Must be comfortable working with digital media including website management, social media, and email distribution

Previous experience designing or managing websites. Basic knowledge of HTML and the ability to resize photo and graphic files for web use

Requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented, and goal-driven environment

Prior work experience in office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping and/or report writing

Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office

Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree preferably in marketing, communication, public relations, English, journalism, or related field

THE DEPARTMENT: The Saunders Marketing and Communications Department is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies, managing communications, and promoting events. In addition to the Director and Marketing Specialist, the team of four includes the Events & Promotions Manager and another Marketing Specialist.

THE COLLEGE: The Saunders College of Business is served by approximately 70 faculty and 40 staff members who value collegiality and teamwork. The college is accredited by AACSB International and offers a bachelor’s degree in business with nine different majors. The Saunders College of Business at the Rochester Institute of Technology is accepting applications for the position of Marketing Specialist. The Marketing Specialist position reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications in the Saunders College of Business. The ideal applicant supports or manages the production of a wide range of strategic marketing and communications efforts that effectively advance the mission of Saunders College and its programs. Excellent written communication skills are required for content creation and management of print and electronic publications, social media, and advertising initiatives. Includes research and writing of both original text and editing existing text for department deliverables. Also provides administrative support to the Marketing and Communications Department.
